When I say I am happy about the new Percy Jackson TV series coming to Disney+ on December 20, that would be an understatement. The second they released the announcement about the show going into production, I jumped out of my bed. I was so excited!

From the CGI to the casting, there are so many factors that I believe will make the show great. I have been such a huge fan of Percy Jackson ever since I read The Lightning Thief in 6th grade. I loved it so much that I forced my mother to buy me the whole series. I also have the Percy Jackson Ultimate Guide and a book called Percy Jackson: Greek Heroes. If I wanted a book related to the fictional saga, I made sure I got it.

One of the many reasons I enjoy those books is because I can relate to them. Throughout the story, Percy is constantly on a journey trying to discover more about himself and truly what it means to be the son of Poseidon. I am just like Percy. I am always trying to figure out who I am as an individual in this world. By enduring so many adventures in my life, I get to see all the opportunities life has to offer.

The performance in the show I am excited to see is Walker Scobell who is playing Percy. He was known for his previous roles in The Adam Project and Secret Headquarters. I cannot wait to see how Scobell portrays Percy in the show. Percy is known to be very brave, selfless, thoughtful, and arrogant. Now, do not get me wrong, Logan Lerman’s portrayal of the demi-god was not bad. At the time when I watched the movies, Logan Lerman made me love Percy Jackson as a character even more. But I think it will be nice to see a cast that is around the same age as the characters in the book because just like how we grew up with the characters, we can grow up with the cast as they embark on this journey through this action-packed story that so many people know and love.

Even if you are not a Percy Jackson fan, I would still recommend watching it because it is a show that isn’t only about characters of Greek Mythology, it’s about finding yourself in a world that is still unknown to you, and once you do, it will be the best thing to ever happen to you as it will change your life forever.
