Fashion Trends and Predictions to Follow This Summer

With warm weather, many exciting changes follow, most notably in fashion. As winter’s drab greys and beiges begin to fade from the closets of your favorite influencers and models, a new sense of hope also revives as summer nears. Finally, color returns to runways and social media feeds! Here are some fashion trends to watch out for and follow this summer!

1. Cargo Pants and Tiny Top Duo

I will try and keep a positive mindset about this one, but the truth is- I hate cargo pants. Personally, I think they are so ugly and overdone, but they are very, VERY in.

Cargo pants, specifically low-waisted ones, are very popular now. They are more viral on social media than prevalent on runways, which is very telling.

If you don’t have them already, they are screaming “micro-trend,” so don’t buy them.

I can tell these will be everywhere this summer, at least in the United States. If you own a white, beige, or light-colored pair of cargo pants, pair them with a brightly colored or white tiny top, preferably strapless or off-the-shoulder. Pair darker pants with linen tops, button-downs, or corsets.

These pants and this combination look best on rectangular, hourglass, and pear-shaped bodies. These outfits will highlight the hips and shoulders.

2. An Escape from Basics

I am so tired of the “basic” or “vanilla-girl” aesthetic. I am hoping some creativity and eccentricity returns to fashion this summer.

For sustainability’s sake, I do not recommend buying up every random colorful piece of clothing you find, but branch out this summer. Buy at least three fun articles of clothing at the very minimum.

If you have dark skin, look for gold, white, red, light blue, or pink colors to compliment your skin. If you have lighter skin, but still get tan, buy clothes that are coral, purple, white, blue, or green. If you have very fair skin, lean towards darker shades of green and blue and silver-toned clothing.

3. Off-The-Shoulder Tops and Dresses

This is the most exciting trend that has been popping up again. It is perfect for summer, especially if you like to show off your tan lines.

Off-the-shoulder tops and dresses have a way of looking very sexy while also looking incredibly beautiful, elegant, and chic. Another significant aspect of these tops and dresses is that each piece is so vastly different that it completely depends on the person wearing it and how it will be styled. I also genuinely believe that every body type can rock an off-the-shoulder look.

4. Kardashian Brand Swimwear

I am a huge fan of Good American and Skims. Not only are both brands incredibly size-inclusive, but their products are unique and flattering on everyone, a rare combination.

If you plan on hitting the beach or the pool this summer, consider doing it in a new Skims or Good American bikini.

My personal favorites are the sequin bottom and top from Skims and the Leilani one-piece from Good American.

5. Blush Pink Everything

With the rise in popularity of the Rare Beauty blushes and Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip balms, I think there will definitely be a correlation between blush colors and fashion this summer.

While I think blush pink everything will be popular this summer, I especially predict a rise in blush pink dresses. Blush pink is perfect for a summer wedding guest dress, a graduation party dress or a birthday dress. It will look great with a sunrise or sunset as a background. Definitely keep an eye out for this color!
