Gratitude is something I do not practice nearly enough. I consider myself to be a pretty internal pessimist. However, this semester has filled me with so much joy that I just could not contain myself (that’s the antidepressants talking). Here is a few of the things I was most grateful for this semester:

  • My roommates and my townhouse:
    • These girls are my family and they have made living in a townhouse a dream. Without a doubt, my favorite part of the day is right before bed when all four of us hang out in the living room chatting about literally anything under the sun. I have never laughed so hard in my life. I cannot wait to be reunited next semester! I love our sweet decor and how often we do little acts of love for each other.
  • Jandoli Women of Communication and Her Campus
    • I take so much pride in being a part of these two groups. JWOC was literally something my roommate and I founded and getting to see it grow this year has been such a joy. Seeing multiple spaces where its foundation comes from female support is just so wonderful. I have learned so much about leadership and time management and just generally about being a better human being from all of my clubmates.
  • The weather
    • For the most part, this semester was extremely warm and with comfortable temperatures. Once it got a little chiller, I felt myself enjoy the leaves and foliage much more than I had in past years. I felt the mountains were really enchanted. Even though we have snow now, definitely not my favorite thing, it has been very easy to walk/drive in and creates a very picturesque scene (from inside). Overall, I consider myself lucky even with a few rainy days.
  • The Mountain
    • Not only did I get to travel the East Coast with the Mountain, but I also got to travel with my favorite people to DC to lobby on Capitol Hill. More than the trips, the Mountain provided a perfect way to retreat from campus for a few nights and has been my family away from home. I have met so many people I would not meet otherwise while getting to bond over faith.
  • Weekend days
    • Thinking about waking up at 11 a.m. on a Saturday, maybe getting a (two) McDonald’s sausage and egg burritos, watching Riverdale, hitting up Marshalls and taking a nap? Wow. I have really focused on making my weekends dedicated to self care. This starts Friday afternoon and goes until Sunday afternoon (when I have to start doing my homework). Rest and relaxation, it’s not just a wonderful book!
  • My digital camera
    • Memories are better if they can be preserved! I love to have my camera with me before a night out to take sweet and fun pictures with my friends. Our favorite thing to use is the video feature to make vlogs! These are so fun to look back on whether its the day or month after.
  • My family at home
    • None of this joy at school would be possible without support from home. My parents and brother work so hard to make sure I have everything I need at school and I am so grateful for them. They relish in my joys at school and take every opportunity to be proud of me. I never feel pressured to call or visit home, they are just happy to hear about any/all debriefs when I have the time. I cannot wait to spend the whole month with them over Winter Break.
