6 Last Minute Group Costumes Perfect for Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SBU chapter.

Let’s be honest with ourselves for a minute – as college students, we’re busy and we’re broke. We don’t have the time, money, or effort to put into making or thinking up Halloween costumes for ourselves or our friends. We want to have the cutest or best costumes and with basically three nights of Halloween in college, we like to get all the ideas we are able to.

Here are a couple easy, stress-free group ideas for this upcoming Halloween.

1. Zombies

What you need: White T-shirt, black makeup, black leggings or pants, black bandeau or cami, red spray paint (for blood if you want)

Zombie costumes sound pretty difficult to make but this zombie costume in particular will only take about an hour or less. Cut up your white T-shirt with holes to the point where it is ragged but still wearable. After, spray the edge of some of the holes with the red spray paint, as much as you feel fit to your level of zombifying.

2. M&Ms

What you need: your color of choice T-shirt, white puffy paint

M&Ms are a classic candy and perfect for a group of people especially because of the amount of colors to choose from. You can buy a colored T-shirt for less than $10 at Wal-Mart or any craft store. Either way, you will find white puffy paint as well for your “M” for your T-shirt. You can stick to the classic M&M colors or any other color. Have fun with the rest of the outfit!

3. Beanie Babies

What you need: a color coordinated outfit to fit your animal of choice, animal accessories, paper & a printer

Let’s put on a twist on the cute animal costumes that we are accustomed  to each year and add the “TY” tag to it. So pick your cutest animal accessories and print out a big “TY” logo and safety pin it to your outfit. Here’s a suggestion: get two friends along with you and be a lion, a tiger and a bear, a classic combo that is sure to scare (or out-do) the competition. (If you didn’t get that reference, channel your inner child and go watch the Wizard of Oz)

4. Risky Business

What you need: White or pale pink collared button-down shirt, black sunglasses, white knee-highs, boxers or a pair of black or gray shorts

This costume has been popping back up the past couple years and it’s a genius group or solo costume idea because all you need are most likely items that you or a friend has! With virtually no cost to you, you can dress as Tom Cruise’s character from his famous scene in his character’s living room from the ‘80s favorite, Risky Business.

5. Alvin & the Chipmunks

What you need: Three T-shirts or long sleeve big shirts (one red, one blue, and one green), yellow puffy paint or yellow felt to cut out into an “A”, leggings or pants

I’m sure we remember these classic chipmunks from our childhood. Alvin, Theodore and Simon are the beloved singing animals from that Christmas song that make us reminisce the simpler times. So, as it goes, one person will be Alvin, the one wearing red with the yellow “A” on the front, one person will be Simon, sporting the blue shirt with a pair of glasses (prescription or not) and the last wearing green for Theodore.

6. “Pretty Little Liars”

What you need: Black dress or outfit, red felt “A”

Become the cast of Pretty Little Liars with pretty little black dresses and a giant felt “A” pinned across one person’s stomach. No matter how many “A”‘s there are in the show, your group will steal the spotlight with striking resemblance to Ali, Spencer, Hanna, Aria and Emily this Halloween.

Happy Halloween :)
