While being in college, finding time to read is not the easiest. I spend plenty of time throughout my day reading articles and textbooks and finding the motivation to pick up a book to read on top of that is minimal at times.

Back in high school I was always an active reader, but over time that personal joy kind of got lost. This past year I received a Kindle for my birthday which has sparked my joy to read once again.

Now that I have personally got back into the reading grind, I could not be happier. Nothing makes me happier than finding myself lost in a good book. Although, I’m not gonna lie sometimes it’s difficult to find a book that sucks you in.

To make the process of finding one good book after reading one easier, I have decided to make a to-be-read (TBR) list for 2024. By creating this list I hope to continue my motivation to read even when I’m not eager while in school. Here are some books I hope to read this year!

101 Essays That Will Change the Way You Think by Brianna Wiest

I have had so many recommendations to read this book. Self-help and self-growth books are my favorite category to read. I have heard nothing but good things about this book, and I’m excited to see if my perspective on life will change in any way.

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

This book was recently recommended and gifted to me by a friend and I could not be more excited to start reading. A psychotherapist studies the behavior of a woman who killed her husband and never spoke a word again, hoping to uncover her true intentions. The storyline had me hooked right away. This book will have me turning pages like crazy to try and understand the silent patient’s mind.

Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton

As a woman in her twenties, I spend a lot of time reading books that can relate to this period of my life because let me tell ya it’s a little confusing figuring yourself out. I have seen on social media and discussed in a few podcasts how this book is perfect for that time of life and I can’t wait to dive in.

Women Don’t Owe You Pretty by Florence Given

I took a women in literature course this past semester, and we were able to dive into many great feminist pieces. We were not able to cover them all, but many recommendations were shared and this book was mentioned to be a good read. I have also seen my social media flooded with quotes from it, which I already love. As a feminist myself, the title alone had me convinced to read.
