10 Reasons to Be Excited For Bonaventure Basketball Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SBU chapter.

1. New players— three new freshman

With new players, comes all new excitement. The new players always give us fans hope that this season will be worth our while.

2. Excuse to get drunk on a weeknight

We love going to the games but getting drunk and going to the games allows all the chaos to be acceptable.

3. Free shirt

Who doesn’t love another Bonnies shirt?

4. SBU Cheer team

Watching the cheer team perform (and almost getting stepped on every time there is an out-of-bounds ball) is pretty captivating.

5. Watching all the players be extremely excited for this season.

Since the basketball team got so far last year (and got screwed over so badly), the team is even more excited to get the season started and show us that they’re back and better.

6. Watching the coach do stupid things/getting angry

The viral video of Mark Schmidt falling over in his ankle wheeler just wasn’t enough. This season we have no doubt his anger will provide us with even more laughter. You can watch that video here.

7. Watching all Bonnies fans come together

As if being a Bonnie doesn’t already bring us together, basketball really unites us. Doing all the cheers together, clapping, and even storming the court are all memories that we won’t forget.

8. Cute Instagrams

If you don’t Insta a pic with your friends while you’re at a Bonnies game, do you even go to Bonaventure? All the cute “candids” make for great Instagram posts.

9. New jerseys

Getting new jerseys is like Christmas for the players. The players look and feel fresh!

10. Free Domino’s pizza

The best part of the game is when the cheerleaders hand out the free pizza to the fans. No matter who the pizza is given to, it is gone within seconds.

Regardless of all these reasons to go to the games, it is so much to make unforgettable memories with your friends. These are the ones that you’ll tell your friends and family about when you’re describing what it is like to be a Bonnie.
