That’s So Raven Spinoff!?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

Let’s play Name That Theme Song. Ready? GO!

“Hey now, what you say now, bout to put it down,

Come on and take a ride with Ray now,

And the future looks great now and everything’s gonna change now,

LET’S ROCK!”

If you didn’t know exactly what TV show that theme song belonged to by the end of the first line, were you truly even a 90’s baby? That’s So Raven was an iconic Disney show that ended in 2007. The show was the story of Raven Baxter, a high schooler who would get random visions of the future. When there were bad visions, Raven would do what she could to stop them, which usually ended up causing even more problems. Teens and tweens across the country were devastated when it was announced that Raven Symone was leaving the show, ending after only four seasons.

BUT GUESS WHAT? RAVEN IS BACK!

Raven Symone has officially announced that she is leaving The View in New York, packing her bags and heading back to Los Angeles to star in and help produce a That’s So Raven spinoff series.

According to Deadline Hollywood, “Raven will reprise her title role of Raven Baxter in the offshoot, which she also will executive produce. On the new show, Raven is a divorced mother to two pre-teen kids (a son and daughter), one of whom has inherited her ability to catch glimpses of the future.”

However, who inherited her ability, her son or her daughter? Will Chelsea and Eddie make and appearance? What about her money-hungry brother, Cory, or her father who is an amazing chef? There are so many questions left unanswered.

According to Symone, who spoke with The Shade Room, “I’m excited and sad, but mostly excited. There’s no title yet, but I’m calling it That’s So Raven 2. It’s Raven Baxter. It’s still me. But I am a mother this time. I’m going to be a single mother raising two kids.”

We all know that Disney made a spinoff series of Boy Meets World called Girl Meets World, where Cori and Topanga are married and raising their daughter. However, we also know how much of a letdown that show was. As 90’s kids, we wish that Disney was still what is used to be, in disgust at what is has become. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that That’s So Raven 2 is different. Either way though, we are all screaming with excitement!

With no premiere date set yet, all there is left to do is wait. So keep waiting, keep your schedule clear, and get your blankets and popcorn ready, because this is something none of us want to miss. You already know it’ll be the perfect girl’s night.
