How to Eat Leftover Easter Candy the Right Way

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

According to Nielsen data, in the week before Easter last year, Americans bought $823 million in crème-filled eggs, chocolate rabbits and colored marshmallow Peeps.  Even this year the Easter Bunny beat out the likes of Santa, Cupid, and the infamous Jack O’ Lantern.  So if you’re one of the many people who got a little too good at hiding the Easter eggs at this year’s Easter egg hunt, don’t worry, because here’s what you can do: spread some post-Easter cheer with a rendition of yummy desserts that every*bunny* can enjoy!

1.)    Easter Overload Brownies

Using almost everything except the kitchen sink, these Easter candy brownies from “Confessions Of A Cookbook Queen” are packed with Oreos, Peeps, caramels, and more.  Try out this recipe if you really have a lot of leftovers!

2.)    Easter Egg Bark

As if this super simple Easter egg bark from “A Pretty Life In The Suburbs” couldn’t get any better, you can easily swap out the Easter egg jelly beans for mini chocolate eggs, too.

3.)    Bunny Chow

PSA: this dessert is not just for puppies! Dress it up for that some bunny in your life. Though this recipe is only four ingredients, you can add more candy or your favorite nuts to this sweet and crunchy snack mix. Just enjoy it how you like it! (via Something Swanky)

4.)    Peanut Butter Chocolate Nests

This dessert is a work of art both in your mouth and to the naked eye. It’s an adorable bird’s nest that you can eat! Chocolate, peanut butter, and pretzels are a dream trio that don’t get enough credit. Case in point: Take Five candy bars, which are seriously underrated. (via Dessert Now Dinner Later)

5.)    Spring Krispie Cake with M&M’s and a Candy Drizzle

Here’s a cake that’s perfect for any celebration! If you’re looking for an even bigger pop of color, you can melt down Peeps and mix it in with the cereal. If you’re using Peeps of varying colors, melt each color down separately and mix cereal in portions. (via Delightful E Made)

6.)    S’mores Peeps

Liven up regular ol’ s’mores into brightly colored sandwiches with Peeps, chocolate, and sprinkles! (via Brit + Co.)

7.)    Jelly Bean Donuts

If you were ever looking for an excuse to eat jelly beans for breakfast, this one is for you! Side: if you don’t have a donut pan handy you can make jelly bean muffins instead! (via Melanie Makes)

8.)    Chocolate Malt

Ease that chocolate craving with just a sip! There is nothing better to do with leftover Whoppers than this; it’s a decadent dessert in a glass that’s sure to be a hit with any chocoholic. (via My Baking Addiction)

10.)  Candylicious Junkyard Cookies

This cookie recipe tops them all, because it strongly encourages you to clean out your candy stash.  Although the recipe calls for specific candy like M&M’s and Kit Kat bars, you can throw in whatever candy/chocolate you’re trying to get rid of. (via A Zesty Bite)

11.)  Easter Candy Popcorn

Sweet and Salty with a side of marshmallow sauce you say?! That’s right, with this more indulgent version of kettle corn that coats your popcorn in a sticky, sweet, buttery sauce, it’s a perfect post-Easter snack.  You can add your favorites of M&M’s, candy-coated chocolate eggs, or whatever your heart desires! (via Two Sisters Crafting)

12.)  4 Ingredient Leftover Easter Candy Mug Cake

A treat you can make even in your dorm room!  This single serving of cake is just the emergency sweet treat you can keep on hand.  Just toss a handful of Easter M&M’s into a mug along with flour, milk, and baking powder. Viola! Your sweet tooth is satisfied in under five minutes using ingredients you already had in your pantry. (via Kirbie’s Cravings)

13.)  Easter Pretzel Bites

Using leftover chocolate as an adhesive of sorts, you can top of the pretzels with any candy you like! (via Something Swanky)

14.)  Thin Mint Cake
