Dates Under $20

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

Alright Bees, it’s that time of the year where our wallet is tight and you’ve binge watched everything good on Netflix. It’s time to take a break from homework and movie nights, and get out to enjoy what Davenport has to offer. Plus, that $20 grandma gave you for “laundry” could be better spent right?

Picnic at Vanderveer

Lucky for us, Vanderveer is right across the street. This means no gas money, just walking (we’re already off to a good start with this one). Grab a bottle of wine from home or stop by Aldi and pick up a bottle of Winking Owl for under $3. Worried about the food part? Don’t be. Between Aldi, Rogo, and your own fridge your options are pretty close to endless.  Don’t forget a blanket to sit on, and put your backpack to use and use it as a college version of a picnic basket.

Movie Night

Okay, so not too different from what you’ve been doing for weeks now, but still getting yourself out of your room. On Tuesday’s, Rave Cinema shows movies at a discount price of $5.50. With prices that low you have plenty of extra cash to spend on snacks! Who doesn’t love popcorn?

Bowling at Bowlmor

Friendly competition is the way to go! Sunday – Thursday after 9PM, Bowlmor has some sweet deals. $1 games for everyone, and for those who have buzzed past 21, $1 domestic drafts and $2 12oz wells (shoes not included). Friday and Saturday stop by for $10 media bowling. For $10 you get unlimited games for 3 hours and shoes included!

Tacos, Tacos, Tacos

Or really any kind of food, but for the purpose of this article we’re going to talk about tacos. Los Primos is located on Locust, right down the street from the school. With a taco starting at $1.75, how could a trip here go wrong? Everything on the menu is under $10, so you can definitely eat until you’re happy without breaking the bank. Don’t forget to try the guac, it changes lives!

Exercise Together

Lucky for us, there are plenty of places to hop on the bike path. Whether you and your S.O. want to take a walk, ride bikes, roller blade or skip for hours you sure have the option. Definitely a free and fun activity to keep you in shape and get you outside for a little while.

River Bandits

This past weekend was opening weekend, and as we get ready to say goodbye to the Mallards after playoffs, we’re welcoming back the River Bandits! With tickets as low as $6, you really have no reason not to get outside and enjoy some fresh air for a few hours! No need to show your competitive side with this one, but take the chance to cheer and go a little wild for your local baseball team!
