Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros (2023)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Violet Sorrengail is a 20-year old college student. Only she attends Basgiath War College and is forced into the elite Rider’s Quadrant by her mother after training for the Scribe Quadrant her entire life. Fourth Wing follows Violet on her journey through the Rider’s Quadrant while she discovers herself but also uncovers dark family secrets that put her in constant danger.

Violet is one of my favorite literary characters. She is a strong female character who suffers from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a severe chronic connective tissue condition, but she does not let that stop her from being a force to be reckoned with. She repeatedly shows throughout Fourth Wing that just because she is smart and has an illness does not mean that she can’t also be strong and achieve great things. This book is one that you will never want to put down with its unexpected twists, lovable characters, and blooming romance.
