If you’re on TikTok there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Laufey, or at least an audio snippet of one of her songs. Laufey’s songs “From the Start” and “Falling Behind” have been trending on TikTok recently but what makes her songs stand out from the many other trending audios is her unique blend of jazz, pop, and classical that transports you to a smoke-filled 1940s speakeasy, with a modern twist.
Her new album Bewitched is absolutely perfect for a fall full of romanticizing your life and hurting your own feelings. Laufey recently released itineraries for “A Very Laufey Day” so her fans can go to some of her favorite spots to enjoy the new album to its fullest. While there are only itineraries for a handful of big cities, there are certainly some common trends. So if you’re thinking about listening to her new album and really want to set the scene here are some activities that will perfect the experience:
- Head to your favorite coffee shop for a drink and a sweet treat (she recommends an oat milk latte but anything will do)
- Wander into an independent bookstore and lose track of time

- First and foremost, her name is pronounced “lay-vay” (I only recently discovered this so learn from my mistakes and pronounce it correctly).
- She is Icelandic-Chinese and grew up in Iceland with her twin sister surrounded by music from a young age.
- Laufey comes from a family of classical musicians and began playing piano and cello at age four. She started blending her music with jazz and pop while she attended Berklee College of Music to form her signature sound
- Laufey is an old soul and a fan at heart! She can often be found fangirling about Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and her favorite authors Joan Didion and Eva Babitz. She even started her own online book club where she discusses her new favorite books with fans.
