This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at San Francisco chapter.

Alright ladies, it’s baseball season and that can only mean one thing for us San Franciscans… THE GIANTS!

Yep, we’re talking about the orange and black, the torture, the garlic fries, and the beard!

Her Campus’ Lauren Luna, long time Giants fan, is here to prepare you for the awesome season ahead.Whether you just need a refresher or are new to the scene we’ve got your guide to make sure you have the full experience at AT&T.

Food/Alcohol

If you’re on a college budget like most collegiettes than I suggest that you bring your own food. AT&T Parkallows, “Paper or plastic grocery bags, purses, fanny packs, backpacks, lunch bags, diaper bags (backpack-style), soft-sided containers, handbags and briefcases are allowed into the ballpark as long as they do not exceed 16″ x 16″ x 8″ in size,” according to the Giants website.

But if you are going for the full experience and planning to buy food, I recommend going to Gilroy Garlic Fries and getting none other than their signature garlic fries. They are to die for!

They do not allow outside alcohol and illegal drugs inside the park. Though, the site does say, “Sealed plastic bottles and soft-sided juice containers are allowed in AT&T Park.” It is only once you are inside the park that you may then purchase alcoholic beverages.

Clothing

WARM JACKETS! I cannot stress this enough. No matter how sunny and hot it may be, the later the game lasts, the colder you it will get. If you happen to forget one and you find yourself needing something warm, the liqueur store on the corner of King and Third sells knock off Giants jackets for $20.

Attractions

If this is your first time at a Giants game, be prepared for some fun. Behind the left field bleachers is the Coca-Cola Fan Lot. The 80-foot wooden Coca-Cola bottle has 4 slides that guests from all ages can enjoy. The best part is that it’s free! The lot also has the world’s largest baseball glove and it’s one of the best places to take a picture in front of.  It offers a great view of the game, the Bay Bridge, and the beautiful San Francisco Bay.

Transportation

If you hate driving, take public transit! Take it from the website, “Since AT&T Park opened in 2000, it has been
known as one of the most transit friendly ballpark’s in the country.” If you’re coming from SF State all you have to do is just on the M train and switch at Embarcadero station to the T train. If you live in the bay area, you can most likely take the Caltrain or Bart. The park also highly encourages fans to take public transportation ever since they took the green initiative.

Tailgating

Besides watching the game, tailgating is one of the best parts of baseball!  The park rules say, “Tailgating is
allowed only in specially designated areas of the AT&T Park parking lot, or in the space occupied by the guest’s car. Only one parking space is allowed per vehicle.”

The downside to tailgating is paying for parking but from my experiences having multiple friends and family members with you, it’s all worth it and makes the day much more memorable.

You are now officially prepared for a great day of Giants baseball. Remember to wear sunblock and bring sunglasses!

If you have any other questions about what is permitted in the park or what you can do once you are inside, make sure to check out the San Francisco Giants homepage
