Collegiettes! Do you like to dance? Ever wanted to learn? If so, you’re in luck because from Friday, April 20th through Sunday, April 29th, San Francisco is celebrating its 14th Annual Bay Area Dance Week!
With over 600 FREE events, including classes, performances, and festivals, the Bay Area is full of activities celebrating the dance culture! If you have ever been interested in different types of dance, anything from hip-hop to samba, now is your opportunity to educate yourself and even learn a few new moves!
Bay Area Dance Week is a branch of National Dance Week, a tradition that is celebrated in many major cities around the country. It was started in 1998 when various organizations and artists came together and decided awareness needed to be brought to the Bay Area about the dance culture. Today, the Bay Area has one of the largest and most involved dance weeks in the nation!
Here’s how to get involved:
The San Francisco Conservatory of Dance and ODC Dance Commons are just a couple of dance schools that are offering free classes throughout the entire week! To find more, go to the Bay Area Dance Week’s event page.
If by chance you can not make it to these events (did I mention they are free?), dance classes are always offered in our very own campus gymnasium! Go to San Francisco State’s website and check it out!
So get out there and get moving! Happy Dancing!
