How Junior Mom’s Weekend Made My Friends and I Even Closer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.

During my freshman year, I remember the first ever Junior Mom’s Weekend celebration on campus. I remember seeing my older classmates walking through Le Mans with their mom’s, and I remember seeing pictures on Facebook and Instagram of mothers and daughters. I wanted to be a junior so badly that day. As the narrow- minded freshman I was, I never thought I would make it to Junior Mom’s. I wanted to leave Saint Mary’s and return back East with family and friends, but I have never been so thankful that I stayed.

This past weekend was my Junior Mom’s weekend. Even though my Mom was the last to arrive, I already adored the mom’s that were here. Sharing funny stories with each other’s moms about our eventful nights (well at least we thought they were funny), and seeing how happy all my friends were made me realize how much I love Saint Mary’s, and how much I love my friends. Finding the perfect group of girls who accept your faults, and pick you up when you’re feeling down is hard, but I found them. Of course I loved my friends before JMW, but I loved them even after because their Moms were as great as they are.

Our mom’s became almost as close as my friend’s and I are, but that made our bond even stronger. From drinking way too much wine on the first day to ripping my leggings at yoga and to dancing uncontrollably at Cj’s, I knew that these were the friends I wanted to have for life. It all makes sense why my friend’s are some of the weirdest girls I know, but that was the fun of Junior Moms. The moms were as weird as we are, but I wouldn’t trade last weekend in for the world. All the laughs and memories that were created last weekend will last a lifetime.

From the moment I saw all the moms my freshman year, to the moment I saw my mom as a junior, I had never been so grateful to be a Belle.
