7 Things Disney Has Taught Me Over The Years

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.

Disney has always had the reputation of teaching young children life lessons. Sure, this may be true however, I think it has taught me more as I’ve grown older. So ladies, I’m going to share with you my little pearls of wisdom that I’ve learned over the years.

1. A new pair of shoes can help you find a man.All you have to do is lose a heel at a party and your prince charming will come search the kingdom (or campus) high and low for his fair maiden .  If that doesn’t work an accidental stiletto stomp should do the trick. That will get his attention. So go out there girlfriend and buy that probably over priced great pair of heels that you are dying to get.

2. Spending time in forests can also help you meet the love of your life.If he’s not at the ball, he’s probably waiting for you in the nearest forest. So get over there and wander around, sing a little bit, maybe even try to play with those cute little furry creatures (I doubt they have rabies) and a man will surely be lurking around behind a tree waiting to meet you….I mean meeting guys at a party is so overrated.

3. Disney taught me the only Spanish I have ever retained.Por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas: Please stand clear of the doors. I mean you can only ride the monorail at Disney world so many times before it gets stuck in your head. And yes I do have a shirt that says it on it. I don’t want to get rusty on my language skills while I’m away from my second home. So if youre interested in picking up another language swing on over to the happiest place on earth and you’ll be fluent in no time. See mom and dad I’m always trying to learn something new.

4. Always know what’s in your cup.Ladies, we all know to never put our cups down at a party or to never take open drinks from someone. Where do you think we learned that? Well Tarzan of course! Thanks Tantor for always being sure if the water was sanitary.

5. I learned about South America. What else do you need to know besides that it is just like America….but south. Geography is a very important thing to know in life.

6. Ohana means family.Family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten. A quote from the one and only stitch. A creepy but wise little alien type animal that I will always listen to. Alright ladies this goes along with not putting our drinks down at a party. Never leave a fellow belle at a party. Just don’t. It’s that simple. Don’t do it. Sisters before misters. Hoes before bros. #gobelles

7. Because I’m a lady. It’s always a great excuse. Your parents ask you to take out the garbage and you say no. They ask you why and your response is “because I’m a lady”. You don’t want to go for a run? Well of course you can’t because you are a lady and ladies don’t sweat. I don’t know about you, but that is a good enough excuse for me.

So thanks, Disney for teaching us about our spending habits, boys, and giving us life lessons that we will carry with us forever.

And most importantly, always remember… it all started with a mouse.
