10 Things to Do Over Fall Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.

1. Travel

You don’t have to travel far! Even a getaway to the closest city can be an adventure.

2. Experience nature

Walk to your favorite park or hike a new nature trail (and a good opportunity take your best friend, whether that’s a dog or a person)

3. Visit your local library

I know, I know. You’re on fall break to get away from anything academic, so why would you want to surround yourself with more books? Libraries need your support, so why not check out a book you love and hang out for a while? Speaking of academics…

4. Catch up on homework

Use your downtime to catch up or get ahead in your homework. When you get back to campus, you’ll feel less stressed and more prepared to take on the rest of the semester.

5. Craft

Make one (or many) of your Pinterest dreams come true and experiment with your scissors, sewing machine, or culinary skills.

6. Get into the season

Visit a pumpkin patch, go on a hayride, go to a haunted house, Instagram the changing leaves (or jump into a pile of them)! Even if how you celebrate the beginning of fall with Christmas music, do whatever makes you happy to celebrate the season.

7. Try something new

Even if you don’t want to work on your days off, fall break is a great chance to try a new hobby, learn something new, or do something you’ve never done before!

8. Visit loved ones

Instead of calling to check in, now is your chance to visit your friends and family. Try to take the time to see them and remind them you care.

9. Have a stay-cation

Have a movie marathon, spend all day doing something creative, or spend some time investing in some self-care.

10. Get out of the house!

Go to the movies, a theme park, an arcade, or even just your favorite restaurant. It’s your vacation, spend it how you want!
