You’re Gonna Miss This: An Ode To SHU Seniors

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

It’s 3 AM and you’re probably sitting in the overcrowded library, just about a week before graduation, writing papers you (yet again) put off until the last minute. You don’t mind it, though. All-nighters that used to plague you almost seem precious in a sense. Not the bloodshot eyes or unfathomed exhaustion, but knowing how few and far between staying up all night will be once school is over. Your mental state lately can be summed up in one word: fragile. You’re constantly teetering on the edge of fanciful excitement and sheer terror. In one instance, you couldn’t feel more ready to leave SHU behind and head onto the next chapter in your lives. In the next minute, you’re holding on for dear life to a place that’s been home for the past four years. What will you miss most? The list seems endless.

1. Complaining about the never-ending line into Outtakes (but waiting in it anyway).

2. Holding the whole world in your hand via your SHU card. Never again will food, laundry, house keys, and a form of identification be packed into one device.

3. Discounted tickets to movie theaters, Broadway shows, and local attractions.

4. The times when the employees at Linda’s make you a bacon, egg, and cheese on a hard roll well after the designated breakfast hours.

5. G-Star Tuesdays. Class Wednesday morning? Oh well.

6. ARNF Field Fridays (RIP).

7. Bingo Nights in the Edgerton that are weirdly exciting. Eyes on the prize, people.

8. The first few sunny afternoons of spring when everyone is laying out on the hill without a care in the world.

9. “Oh no SONO” Friday nights.

10. The countless Red’s Senior Pub Nights with people I will never forget.

Nothing comes close to how much we will miss our college years at Sacred Heart. As for the younger students reading this article, don’t take these years for granted. Enjoy everything this small, Catholic university has to offer. For us, Heart is where the home is. Thanks for the memories Big Red, you’ve truly been a friend.

Congrats Class of 2015!!!!!
