How to Rock Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness: Featuring Zeta Tau Alpha

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

October is a great time to wear pink for a good cause. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the best time of the year for Zeta Tau Alpha because it is their philanthropy mission. The sisters of the Lamda Alpha chapter put on events around campus during Think Pink Week. This year Think Pink Week was a huge success for philanthropy and fashion. Ali Morimando was in charge of all the events and Geena Maniaci designed the t-shirts. The black v-neck tees said “Fight for Pink Until It’s Another Color” with an image of bright pink boxing gloves.

The Pink Out football game is where the girls got to show off the t-shirts and wear other cute accessories to go along with the Think Pink theme. Headbands, sunglasses, beaded necklaces, and ribbons were worn in honor of those who have died, survived, or are still battling Breast Cancer. Guys participated by wearing pink polos or t-shirts. The marching band even wore pink gloves. They look manly as ever, right ladies?

The football team got in on the pink action by wearing pink athletic tape, wristbands, and gloves. Big Red wore a giant pink ribbon on his chest. Go HEART!

So how can you rock pink for Breast Cancer Awareness?

During Think Pink Week, Zeta girls wore pink shoes and scarves to accessorize their outfits. Pink jewelry is easy to pull off with an understated outfit like jeans and a tee. Rock a statement piece like a hot pink bobble necklace or a more subtle option, pink stud earrings. Pink nails are an easy, affordable way to get a little pink into every outfit. Some of the girls got manicures to commemorate the cause.

A hot pink blazer over a black top with dark denim jeans and fall boots is a professional, put together look that pops. If you are going out, a hot pink heel and jewelry can go with any little black dress in your closet. For a feminine or floral look choose a pink flowy blouse and pair it with a floral flat and gold jewelry.

The ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha at Sacred Heart keep it classy while raising money for this great cause. Senior Katherine McKarthy said, “It is important that we all look pretty in pink and represent ourselves as a whole to raise awareness to breast cancer education and prevention.” Jessica Podmokly added, “I love wearing pink for our philanthropy cause. I love seeing everyone around campus wearing pink and our ribbons that we hand out.”
