In search of a clever Halloween costume that will make people laug all night long? Here are 5 Sacred Heart themed costumes that honor our best personalities on campus. These costumes are easy, clever, and completely original.
1. Dr. Petillo
After Dr. Petillo’s selfies on twitter, including his excited face for National Bow Tie day, every student knows what he looks like. Our prez has a one of a kind look that everyone on campus can recognize from afar. Dr. Petillo wears a bow tie with his everyday suit. And of course, you can’t be Dr. Petillo without glasses. Lately, he’s been rocking thick, black, square shaped frames.
2. Bobby Valentine
The baseball coach recently donned this costume at their slow pitch game fundraiser with the softball team. He used funny Groucho glasses and a jersey with Bobby V. written on the back. Groucho glasses can be found at any Party City or Halloween store. Bobby Valentine actually liked the costume and it gave him a good laugh. The new Athletic Director is a great sport, so go for it!
3. Habitat for Humanity worker
A large amount of the student body at Sacred Heart are involved in Habitat for Humanity. Browsing your facebook newsfeed you will find many profile pictures of students on their work trips to various locations with Habitat. Dressing up as a student in Habitat will give your peers a good laugh. Just wear jeans, work boots, a tool belt, and a hard hat. If you can borrow a Habitat tshirt from a friend it will legitimize the costume.
4. Big Red
Big Red is a face just about no one can forget once they’ve been on campus. Dressing up as our mascot is the ultimate show of school spirit and is gauranteed to lead to lots of photo ops. You can actually buy Big Red’s raccoon hat at the book store. All you have to do is wear brown clothes and try to wear some fringe. If you add moccasins you’ll really pull off the costume.
5. Nerdy/Ryan Mattura is my girlfriend Costume
We all know that the typical nerd costume needs a little flare to be memorable. Students that spend a lot of time in the library can often be heard saying or tweeting “Ryan Matura is my boyfriend”. You can wear a sign that says Ryan Matura is my girlfiend OR boyfriend since the library was named for both Robert Matura and his late wife Bernadette Matura. Pair this funny pun with a nerdy outfit and you’ve got a unique costume.
