10 Times Friends Described Being a College Freshman

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the first FRIENDS episode airing, here’s a few times times our friends perfectly described adjusting to a new school, new living situation, and a new life.

1. So many people are new to the laundry life once they get to college, and for the first few weeks it’s so annoying when people figure out their laundry schedule, learn how to not overflow the washer, remember not to leave their clothes in the machines while they’re in class etc.

2. We can’t always get the grade we want, the class we want, or even the good chicken at the dining hall after a bad day. Sometimes, overreacting a little like Ross happens (some days more than others)

3. The first few days: classes didn’t really start yet, but how am I supposed to make new friends? I miss my friends from home. Why does everyone have friends except for me?

4. Sometimes, being childish is all you need after a long day of adulting

5. When you realize if one person on your floor gets sick, you WILL get sick

6. Do I even need to explain the broke college kid life? Everyone always thinks it’s an overreaction, or “oh that won’t be me, I’m so good at saving my money.” But then you buy textbooks and a bunch of other dorm supplies that you absolutely need. Before you know it, you realize you’re out of deodorant and you don’t want to spend the money to buy it, because $4.19 is just too much for deodorant.

7. We’ve all been there (more times than we care to admit) and sometimes, all you need is comfort food. Sometimes it ends up being a personal pizza, other times it ends up being a $30 UberEats order for you and your friends.. We’re not judging, we’ve all been there.

8. When you see that ~optional~ assignment

9. Looking at the amount of exams you have all in a row

10. Trying to organize your life in this new and unfamiliar zone of independence

Sometimes you feel lost- and that’s okay. In the end what’s meant to be will be, just keep doing your best and taking it day by day. Maybe watch an episode or two of FRIENDS, ~they’ll be there for you~
