I think we can all agree Gilmore Girls is the best TV show––like ever––to air. Just a few weeks ago, it was the show’s 21st anniversary, gracing us with its existence for over two decades. Not only is it probably the most comforting and homey show, but witnessing a mother-daughter duo like never before in the heart of Stars Hollow is an experience not felt in other shows. Transitioning into the fall season, here are the top 10 most comforting Gilmore Girls episodes to binge during the season.

S1, E7: “Kiss and Tell”

Rory’s first kiss with Dean and Lorelai finding out from Mrs. Kim is classic. Lorelai later inviting Dean over for a movie night is the funniest and most comforting part of the episode.

S1, E8: “Love and War and Snow”

There is something so cozy and sentimental about Rory getting stranded at Richard and Emily’s house because of a snowstorm and making them frozen pizza for dinner.

S2, E4: “The Road Trip to Harvard”

This is probably one of the most heartwarming autumn episodes to watch. Right after Lorelai ditches her engagement with Max, she takes Rory on a surprise road trip to Harvard. Lorelai and Rory’s bond throughout the episode makes everyone crave that mother-daughter dynamic. Rory’s excitement when seeing Harvard for the first time brings a smile to your face, reminiscing the early years of applying to university.

S3, E9: “A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving”

A quadruple Thanksgiving episode in the fall? What could be better than that? When Lorelai and Rory are expected to attend four different Thanksgiving dinners, the girls use it to their advantage. Not to mention, who doesn’t love an episode of Rory and Jess as a couple. Eating loads of food while watching this episode sounds like the perfect plan.

S3, E18: “Happy Birthday, Baby”

Doesn’t creating the biggest pizza in the world for your mom’s birthday sound like the most Gilmore thing to do? In between Rory’s final decision to attend Yale and Lorelai’s surprise birthday party, this episode is full of joy and happiness. Not to mention, the mixture of birthdays, boyfriends and fall weather is the perfect combination for an episode.

S4, E2: “The Lorelais’ First Day at Yale”

Rory’s first day moving into Yale is one of the funniest episodes in all seven seasons between Lorelai and Luke’s arguments about his truck and the mattress, and Rory finally settling into her dorm. The episode tops it off with Lorelai spending the night and ordering every type of cuisine for Rory and her roommates.

S4, E9: “Ted Koppel’s Big Night Out”

Who doesn’t love family sports and tailgates in the autumn? When the Gilmores attend the Yale vs. Harvard football game, quality family time and drama arise. It’s the perfect episode to cozy up to. It also brings out the Yale spirit, which automatically gets you excited for campus events in the fall.

S4, E15: “Scene in a Mall”

Emily’s first time eating at a food court with Lorelai and Rory is funny but also genuine. You can really see how much Emily truly values Lorelai and Rory. This episode exudes such a warm feeling throughout

S5, E10: “But Not as Cute as Pushkin”

Rory’s obsession with books and the autumn weather is the perfect energy needed to get through the fall semester. Rory giving a tour of Yale gets everyone excited about being on campus again in the fall.

S7, E6: “Go, Bulldogs!”

Nothing screams fall more than parents’ weekend at university. Autumn, family, school, newspapers and laughter— this lighthearted episode is perfect for watching alone or with your family.

No matter how you’re feeling, whether it be happy, sad, or lonely, Gilmore Girls is always there to make your mundane fall days a thousand times better.
