Spring at Ryerson means working on final projects, studying for exams and getting ready for about a dozen different galas or release parties. If you’re anything like me, you probably feel like each of these events deserve a different outfit — which isn’t always possible on a student budget.
Here are five different places to find the perfect outfit for any event (and Insta post) that won’t leave you screaming at your bank account.
1. Pretty Little Thing
Pretty Little Thing’s range between $6.00 and $176.00 CAD. Although, most of the formal dresses are priced around $55.00. This gorgeous red dress is priced at $44.00 CAD. Just be aware that delivery may take a couple weeks since this is a UK company. Pretty Little Thing also offers a 20 per cent student discount on the website when you sign up for free with a student discount website called Student Beans.
2. Fitzroy
Fitzroy is a dress rental company located at 225 Sterling Road, Toronto. This company allows you to rent designer dresses and accessories for a fraction of the cost. Most of the formal gowns are priced to start around $100 and shorter formal dresses are priced around $50-75 for rentals. If you aren’t in the mood to go shopping in person, you can shop online and get a dress shipped anywhere in Canada. You can rent this green velvet dress by Elle Zeitoune for $90.00 for four or eight days.
3. Missguided
If you’re looking for a cute and cheap party dress, Missguided is the girl for you. Missguided is also a UK brand, but if you don’t feel like waiting for shipping, most locations of The Bay have the brand available in store. This black, one shoulder dress is currently priced at $42.00 CAD on the missguided website.
4. Fashion Nova
Fashion Nova has a lot of variety for party dresses, although it also has some good options for formal floor-length gowns. This metallic bronze, fit and flare dress is $53.42 CAD and would be perfect for any formal event where you want to make an impression. The only Fashion Nova stores currently open are located in California so you’ll unfortunately have to wait for shipping with this one. Although, shipping may not be a problem since there always seems to be some kind of sale happening on the Fashion Nova website.
5. Zaful
Zaful dresses are largely on the casual side, but they do have some pretty cute party dresses that would be perfect for a release party. This green, ruffle mini dress is currently on sale for $17.87 CAD. Zaful sales change daily, so the price of your perfect party dress could change, just be on the lookout for a good sale. Zaful also takes a little bit to ship to Canada, so make sure you purchase your dress with plenty of time to spare.
