My Staycation Spring Break Plans

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rowan chapter.

If your school is like mine spring break is officially canceled because of the pandemic. I understand (and actually appreciate) the fact that many universities are canceling spring break to prevent travel. But, I’m still mourning the loss of a week off. I decided that instead of continuing to moan about the loss of spring break that I would try to find some fun activities to do during the school week. Here are a few of my favorite Covid safe staycation activities.

Cocktails, mocktails, and movie night

If covid wasn’t a thing I would be on the beach sipping a margarita during spring break. Instead, this not-spring break I’ll be in my dorm watching a few of my favorite beach movies. Anyone up to cry while watching 50 First Dates?

Spa day

One of my favorite parts of spring break is that I finally am able to relax. Although I have classes during the week I’m still excited to treat myself at night. I’m really excited to make some DIY face masks, run a bubble bath and give myself an at-home mani and Pedi.

Make yourself a really fancy dinner

Who needs to go out to eat to have fun? I’m really excited to try out a new recipe and go to town when cooking for myself. I feel like it’d be super fun to try to make a dinner or a dessert from a place that I’ve been dying to visit.

Backyard Camping

Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m not the type of person who likes the great outdoors. But, I do like camping activities like roasting marshmallows, sitting around a campfire, and stargazing. If you want to pitch a tent in the backyard and experience the safe and fun wilderness.

(Virtually) Visit New Places

Even though this year it isn’t safe to visit new places the internet is full of ways to explore. Watch travel vlogs, look up pictures of new places, or even take a Google Maps tour of new places.

Start a New Beach Read

One of my favorite parts about spring break is that I finally have time to read books that aren’t assigned for classes. This spring break I’m hoping to read a short but amazing book in between classes.

Sleep!

I feel like every college student will agree that spring break is a reset that we’re all desperate for. Although classes will still happen for a lot of us it’s still important to remember that we all deserve to rest and take some time to have a few extra naps during my not-spring break.

Although Spring Break looks really different this year I hope that you have a fun, safe, and relaxing week!
