The Ultimate Fox Day Survival Guide (Thank Me Later)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rollins chapter.

After two years of low key, toned down, quarantined fox days, it’s time for redemption. This year should be unlike anything we’ve seen before. We should soak up every moment and make the most of it like it’s our last fox day ever (like it is for us seniors. I’m not crying, you’re crying). Take that spirit and run with it, but also take my top-notch advice on how to properly conquer the ultimate darty of the year- fox day.

Place Your Orders Now

Don’t wait to hit CVS or Amazon until mid-April. Go in on a big order with your friends on supplies you’re all going to need, and get it delivered ASAP. You’re not going to want to be scrambling when the President catches you by surprise and it’s time to hit the beach. What to buy exactly? Keep reading, I got you.

Build Your Immunity

My personal favorite vitamin C powder is the Walgreens brand, because it’s way cheaper and does the same job. One box comes with more than enough powder packets to prepare for the big day. You’re going to want to start mixing these in your water every day starting now, so you’re in perfect health when the time comes. This is especially important on nights that you’re playing fox day roulette and feel certain you’re going to be partying the next day.

Props, Props, and more Props

We’ll never know why, but I think we can all agree on one thing- there’s nothing more fun at a darty than a fun hat or glasses. Maybe even try a feather boa! Everyone loves to pass around a fun party prop like a funky cowgirl hat or pretty much anything with glitter. Throw some fun temporary tattoos in your Amazon cart or some euphoria-style gems to add some extra spice to this amazing Rollins tradition!

Insulated Tumbler

No one wants to drink a warm White Claw on a steaming hot day. Think ahead and make sure your to-go drink is in perfect condition for the party bus. Pick out a cooling cup that will chill your seltzer or drink of choice- if it comes with a straw, even better.

Gatorade Zero. That’s It. That’s the Advice.

Grab three or four bottles for yourself- downing one of these the night before fox day, the morning of, and having one left over for afterward will help you recover from the sun-and-alcohol combo. The key? Gatorade Zero- we don’t need any extra sugar dragging us down and making the hangover more extreme. Lots of times, a hangover is caused by sugar more than it is by alcohol- so keep it light and stay hydrated.

Have Prosecco On Hand

Lastly and most importantly, pick up your Prosecco now so you and your friends can have a fun, photo-ready moment when you hear the good news. Popping champagne on fox day is a must, so you don’t want to be caught off guard when that statue is rolled out and the festivities begin!
