Recently, my favorite day of the year happened. No, not D-Day (although I do like it a lot too). It was Sundress day, the first day in the past seven months when people start wearing real clothes again. People aren’t slouching around in big winter jackets and looking unhappy because it won’t stop snowing or raining. Instead people were smiling and hanging out outside on each and every green space, ignoring the workload that is called finals week which was approaching. It didn’t matter that the grass was muddy, it was almost as if the past seven months had never taken place. The nicest part was waking up to sunshine instead of grayness, knowing that the first Sundress day was about to take place as I got dressed in shorts. Girls start wearing sundresses and shorts, showing off parts of the body that have not seen sun since the beginning of the year (or spring break if you went somewhere nice). Guys start wearing short sleeves and shorts, excited because they have spent the last several months of miserable weather in the gym waiting just for this day. Finally our school becomes the stereotypical image of a college campus. People are throwing footballs and frisbees on every quad, hanging out in the sun, doing homework and studying outside. The suspense of winter makes this day all the better when it happens. So as everyone crams and studies for their finals, remember that as great as the library is, at our school this weather only comes around every once in awhile. Take advantage of it, spend some time outside to blow off steam. Good luck on finals!
