Part 1 Of Reasons Treasure Planet Is One Of The Greatest Disney Movies Ever

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Regent chapter.

Honestly, this movie has so much in it and I can’t possibly fit everything in one article, which is why this is part one. This is a warning ahead of time, though: I am very passionate about this movie and Dr. Delbert is my favorite so try your best to get through the intense amount of unnecessary gifs.

  1. The most quotable.

Seriously, this movie is full of golden quotes that can be worked into everyday conversation. For example: “All my life I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this, and here it is screaming, “Go, Delbert! Go, Delbert!…”

There are plenty more, but Ima make you watch the movie to find the others.

  1. Morph.

I would say ‘nough said, but I’ve never been one to not elaborate unnecessarily. I want Morph in my life. He’s caring, he’s totally neutral good, he’s funny, he’s smart, and he’s freaking adorable. Honestly, he’s better than most men I know.

He saves Jim’s live on multiple occasions and other characters’ lives for that matter. Sure he gets a bit flustered at times, but that just adds to his cuteness!

He’s the real MVP for sure and anyone who says otherwise can just leave.

Morph

  1. The subtle sexual humor.

It’s so subtle that you miss it as a kid. When you get older, it’s still subtle enough to avoid offending the more pious individuals. Let’s take a look at some of these examples, shall we?

Delbert explaining that his scientific training can come in handy, or, yanno, some sort of training…. (Honestly, I die laughing every single time.)

Anatomically, eh, Astronomically

Upon first seeing the beautiful captain… hehe.

hehe

When you’re the Boss lady all day and you just need someone to tell you what to do every now and again ;)

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  1. Let’s talk about Delbert (my fav character).

This guy is amazeballs, y’all. Let’s observe:

He’s super cute when he gets all excited to do stuff.

YES BOI

He knows how to throw shade and save the day at the same time. An example in 3 gifs:

“Yes, you.”

#throwingshade

OOOOOO BOI

He’s not super fond of children, but he tries his best. (Don’t worry, later he has a change of heart.)

When you actually hate kids

Our boi saving the day, again.

BOOM

“Did you actually aim for that?”

Good job, Bean.

Honestly, his entire monologue about his suit purchase kills me.

“It’s the suit, isn’t it? l should never have listened to that pushy two-headed saleswoman. This one said it fit, that one said it was my color… I didn’t know what to do. I get so flustered!”

You tried

He smart

Then, of course, the best Delbert quote ever: “Dang it, Jim, I’m an astronomer, not a doctor! I mean, I am a doctor, but I’m not that kind of doctor. I have a doctorate, it’s not the same thing. You can’t help people with a doctorate, you just sit there, and you’re useless!”

  1. Captain Amelia

If you’re still reading after that massive amount of Dr. Delbert Doppler stuff, thank you. I told you he was my fav… I’ll tone it back now. Anywho, we also have a BA female lead. She commands a room and is super capable and amazing, however, she is also realistic because she can’t do everything by herself and requires some help. THIS IS REAL LIFE PEOPLE! She is feisty, kind, smart, and funny.

Captain Amelia

Cats always land on their feet?

Thanks for making it through this little nostalgia trip with me. Tune in next week, I guess?
