Whether you’re at home spending it with family, friends, or chilling in Virginia Beach (like, actually chilling, it’s been chilly the last few days!), I hope you are all having a great Thanksgiving break! I am one of the people that decided to stay in the area for Thanksgiving and just enjoy some time alone. So far, it’s been great! There are some things you simply can’t experience fully when you have other people around. There’s something freeing about being home alone. These are some of the best parts I’ve found.

1. Not wearing pants. Or clothes at all.

I’m rather fond of not wearing pants apparently. I would have never known if it weren’t for this experience. I tried the whole nudity thing, it’s cold. I suppose there’s no reason why you couldn’t do it if that’s what you’re into. Think about it though: if somebody busts in and wants to kill you, you’re way more vulnerable if you’re naked. You probably won’t want to jump into the cold butt naked.

2. Being loud

You do have neighbors, but really, you can get to a reasonable volume before someone comes banging on your door. If you’re a person who loves listening to music and/or singing like me, you can basically have karaoke and a solo concert. No one will cut in on your performance singing both parts of “Rewrite the Stars.”

3. Not being bothered- you can sleep wherever and wherever

Sometimes roommates can get a little loud. In the morning. Or when you’re napping. Really anytime you want quiet. There’s nothing to keep you awake or wake you when you’re alone. You can sleep in until noon and not hear a peep. You can go to sleep at 7 p.m. You will have the best sleep of your life… besides the bump in the night every now and again.

4. Talk to your shows without being judged

Is it just me or do you all yell at shows when you get frustrated with characters? Well, for me it’s a personal habit to talk to myself often, even more so when I’m watching shows. Sometimes characters are so stupid you just want to scream, squeal, or make incorrigible noises. It’s so satisfying for some reason and if you feel lonely, talking to a show can make you feel a little better.

5. All the bathroom time.

The best part. You can take as many hot showers as you want for as long as you want. Sit on the toilet as long as you want. It is glorious. You can sing loud in the shower. Shave. Exfoliate. Take a Bath. Just stand there and let the water run over you. Who’s going to tell you to hurry up? Not me. You live your life.
