7 Unique Restaurants in the Virginia Beach Area

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Regent chapter.

1. Dish Restaurant is a quaint, quirky, and casual dining establishment that specializes in Swedish cuisine with a hint of American classics. Try their Swedish pancakes for breakfast – or if you’re feeling more adventurous, the traditional Swedish meatballs with potatoes, homemade gravy and lingonberries for lunch. Check out their menu here!

2. Restaurant Ole’ is a self-proclaimed Mexican restaurant with Spanish accent. I can tell you it is one of the more authentic Mexican restaurants in the area. Dig in to complimentary nachos and salsa. Be sure to try the white sauce (it’s delicious) and don’t forget to save room for dessert! Check out the menu on their website!

3. Pop’s Diner is a super family-friendly, local Americana diner that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and specializes in the comforts of home: biscuits n’ gravy, chicken n’ pork pot pie, bread pudding and more! The bread pudding is rated as the best bread pudding in Virginia Beach. P.S. – Kids eat free, all day, every day! Check out the website for yourself.

4. Tupelo Honey Café offers “creative Southern food that’s good for the soul.” Every customer gets complimentary biscuits and homemade blueberry jam. Checkout the menu on their gorgeous website, as well as the breathtaking interior!

5. Winston’s Café is a small establishment in Chesapeake with a welcoming and casual hang-out feel featuring creative takes on American classics. There are live music and cocktails, too, for those of you who are of age. Check out the menu!

6. Bergey’s Breadbasket is a family owned and operated bakery, deli and creamery located in Chesapeake. All products are made fresh and from scratch every day. Bergey’s Breadbasket is probably the most well-known for their creamy ice cream and scrumptious homemade pies. It’s a great place to go with the family – you can enjoy the farm animals, the annual corn maze and the annual Easter egg hunt. Check out their website!

7. Taste is a gourmet food shop, upscale café and catering place all in one. Taste is definitely a great restaurant to go to for sandwiches, wine and cheese. They have really good gelato, too! Check out their menu here.

Regent. Elementary Education Major. Junior Year. Twenty. Swedish. Candy Lover. Sweet-ish. God. Family. Friends.
My name is Lili Nizankiewicz. I currently attend Regent University, and I am studying English with a concentration in creative writing. My ultimate goal is to go to grad school for creative nonfiction and eventually become a writing professor at a university. I am a writer, reader, violinist, and coffee drinker. Writing is extremely important and personal to me, and I believe that it can break down many social, mental, emotional, and spiritual barriers that people struggle with. I also adore reading because that is where my love for writing began. Reading has always acted as a comforting escape in my life, and I have fallen in love with so many incredible literary characters, like Scout Finch and Peter Pan. The violin allows me to take a step back from the world of English and literature. I find the beautiful instrument to be both relaxing and challenging. I also really love coffee; it keeps me alive during my weariest days and makes me happy overall. Personality-wise, I would describe myself as introverted, introspective, determined, hardworking, and a little sarcastic.
