Don’t Haze Me Bro! It’s National Hazing Prevention Week!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

“Don’t Haze Me, Bro” is the slogan you’ll find on the sunglasses QU Greeks will be sporting around campus.  National Hazing Prevention Week at QU kicked off with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes at the North Haven Campus on Sunday.  At the walk, QU Greeks were given the sunglasses to wear.  For those who weren’t at the event, sunglasses can be purchased throughout the week!

Here’s a list of the events that are happening this week in efforts to stop hazing!

Monday 9/26: Signing of the Anti-Hazing Pledge Banner will take place in the Student Center.  There will be buttons, band-aids, and candy to pick up as well.

Tuesday 9/27: David Stollman from CAMPUSPEAK is coming to talk about the Greek Life experience and the values behind it.  The event will take place at 8pm in Burt Kahn.

Wednesday 9/28: The Georgie Foundation’s documentary “HAZE” will be shown at 9:30pm in the Grand Courtroom. This documentary shows the harm caused by hazing on college campuses.

Thursday 9/29: Students will be wearing Band Aids to show that hazing does hurt and causes more damage than a person can realize.

National Collaborative for Hazing Research and Prevention reports that, “more than half of college students involved in clubs, teams, and organizations experience hazing.” Quinnipiac maintains a strict policy against the act of hazing.
