Let’s be real. When the weather starts to get chilly and winter begins to roll around, 80% of our free time is spent in our beds scrolling on our phones and itching for something to do. When you’re out of things to do and you just want to cozy up in bed and relax, here is a list of shows that I have watched or my friends have watched that will keep you occupied and entertained!

1. American Horror Story

An 8 season long show that encounters all the creepy things you can think of and brings out your worst fears. Each season is a different story line with mostly the same characters and it branches from murder houses, to witch covens, to killer clowns, and to haunted, vampire dwelling hotels. Highly recommend for those who like suspenseful and eerie things.

2. Breaking Bad

A common favorite for many people. Breaking Bad is about a chemistry teacher by the name of Walter White who is diagnosed with lung cancer and only given a few months to live, so he resorts to cooking and selling meth with his former student Jesse Pinkman to ensure his pregnant wife and cerebral palsy son can support themselves when he dies.

3. Game of Thrones

This show encompasses a battle not only between life and death, but between different houses that fight for the throne and their own honor in a world where fantasies are actually reality. The medieval setting storyline is extremely intricate and will always have you wondering who will die next or where the plot will go. Although it begins a bit slow, it is fun to watch and gets better with each new season.

4. Shameless

Shameless is a show about a run-down family living in the Southside of Chicago. Each episode will have you laughing, crying, and hooked as it tells the story about how the family goes about their daily lives and what they deal with. Between the dead beat dad Frank or the irresponsible, boy crazy daughter Debbie, this family of 8 will always keep you entertained and on your toes.

5. Black Mirror

A truly mind racking show that will leave you not only speechless but questioning society in itself. Black mirror gives an insight on a twisted world where advanced technology exists and encompasses everyone’s daily lives. The show does not hesitate to show what our future can lead to and how detrimental it can be. With each episode being a completely different storyline, it never fails to leave you shocked.

6. Vampire Diaries

For those who like the high school romance drama shows, the Vampire Diaries hits all of those things along with putting a mythological twist to it. The Vampire Diaries is a show about your typical human girl who falls for a vampire grade A hottie and ends up getting involved in some serious vampire history issues that eventually takes over all of town. It incorporates vampires, werewolves, witches and sirens into the 8 season show to make it a cheesy yet catchy series.

7. Jane the Virgin

Jane the Virgin is a show that’s about a 23-year-old virgin named Jane who gets accidently artificially inseminated. Her love life and family life get thrown off when she discovers she is going to be having a baby with a man that isn’t her boyfriend. The show goes into Jane and her life and takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that will leave you wanting more. Everything in Jane the Virgin makes you want to keep watching, whether it’s the love triangles, the telenovela story lines, or even the funny narrator!

8. Power

Power is a show about the perfect, powerful and successful man James “Ghost” St. Patrick who plays the double life of a drug dealer and hides his money through a night club. The crime show set in NYC is filled with action and drama that makes you want to keep watching more, and it gives insight on how people can be living this ridiculous double life.
