5 Easy Ways to Get Quick Cash

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

We’ve all had suffering bank accounts at one point throughout our college careers. Weekend outings, dinners off campus, and online shopping certainly take a toll on your cash flow. If you don’t have a job at school, it’s especially hard to budget your money. Here are some easy ways to get quick cash during those times of need when your bank account continues to dwindle.

1. Babysit: It’s an easy job that typically pays well. Although experience is preferred for some parents, it is not always necessary. You can search for babysitting or nannying jobs in the CT area on Care.com and Sittercity.com, and find ones that fit your schedule. There are plenty of options and you can apply to as many families as you want! Some people just need date night or occasional sitters which are super easy ways to get quick cash, or if you’re lucky you can get a year-round gig.

2. Sell your Books: Don’t get gypped by the bookstore. Once you are done with your books for the semester, create an account on any bookselling website such as Amazon or Textbooks.com and list your books for any reasonable price. It’s seriously that easy! Textbooks are expensive, so why not get almost all your money back at the end of each semester? It’s basically the college equivalent of a very-necessary tax return.

3. Walk Dogs or Petsit: If you love animals, be a dog walker or watch someone’s pet while they are away. You can visit Care.com or Sittercity.com for this too; just search for available jobs in your area and see what fits your schedule. Though it may only be for an hour a day, you’ll get some extra cash in your pocket that you didn’t have there before!

4. Craft and Sell: If you are crafty and have artistic talent, sell picture frames, wine glasses and more on Etsy! You can have your own shop and sell right from your dorm room. You can even begin by selling your specialty items to other students on campus by promoting them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest.

5. Tutor, Proofread or Sell Notes: If you are particularly good in a certain subject and have spare time on your hands, offer your services to tutor someone on or off campus. You can also charge people to proofread their essays or if you are an extremely detailed note taker, you can sell your notes. You would be surprised at the number of people that would jump at these opportunities. Advertise your services on Facebook and Twitter, and even Care.com.

If you feel you are missing out when you have to say no to friends and your bank account is struggling, try these quick, easy ways to make money. Some of the opportunities you are presented with may even turn into a year-round job throughout college.
