Your Official Guide to Procrastination

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Queen's U chapter.

To all my fellow procrastinators, this one’s for you. Gone are the days of mindlessly scrolling through your Instagram feed or tagging your friends in Facebook memes. The next time you’re putting off whatever you should be doing, check out these ways to entertain yourself.

Quizzes

Ever wanted to know what breed of dog you’d be? What Kardashian would be your best friend? What travel destination you’ll go to next? Find out all that and more here. Buzzfeed quizzes are the perfect way to interrupt your next study session!

Baking

From beginner to advanced, baking is always a fun way to procrastinate. From stuffed chocolate chip cookies to apple pie bites, the possibilities are limitless. And at the end, you have something delicious to eat – it’s a win-win!

Napping

If school work has you truly overwhelmed, sometimes the best remedy is a nap. In fact, studies show that a 15-20 minute power nap has tons of productivity-boosting benefits including increased alertness and better motor performance!

YouTube

With over 7 billion videos in existence, there’s no shortage of entertainment on YouTube. Fall into the vortex of clicking on anything that looks interesting or watch one your favourite Youtubers! Shane Dawson is a personal favourite of mine.

Dancing

We all need to let loose every once in a while – why not do it while procrastinating? Have a dance party with yourself or with friends to get your heartrate up and to take a break from the stress of daily life. Jam to current hits with this Spotify playlist!

Netflix

If you’re anything like me, you probably have a never-ending list of Netflix shows and movies that you’ve been meaning to start. If you’re going to procrastinate, do it right: make a night out of binge-watching episodes or discovering a new movie!

Cleaning

If all else fails… clean! After all, it’s been proven that clutter can affect your ability to complete a task. Therefore, you can be (kind of) productive by cleaning and, in turn, have a mess-free environment to do your work in (later, of course)!

So, while you wait until tomorrow to do what you should be doing now, I hope these tips provide you with a little bit of inspiration and entertainment!
