Trend Alert! Popular Costumes to Look Out for this Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purdue chapter.

I absolutely love Halloween! From the classic, spooky movies to the candy, I always really enjoy this time of year. However, we are in a pandemic, which puts a damper on things. Personally, I will be staying in this Halloween due to social distancing and what not. But I understand that some of you may have different plans. All I ask is that you stay safe and be the responsible adults that I know all of you are! Here are some trendy costumes that you may see a lot of this year!

Literally any character from Euphoria

I would bet money that this will be one of the most popular costumes this year, and I completely understand why. I loved Euphoria when I watched it too. From the incredible acting to the stunning makeup, Euphoria was jam packed with complex characters who had even killer wardrobes. Whether you dress up as Maddie, Rue, or just try out some of the iconic makeup looks, you are sure to look on trend and stylish.

Among Us

This is another recent trend that I feel a lot of people will jump on. Among Us is a game, like the party game Mafia, where there are Imposters and Crewmates among a group of 10 players. The Crewmates then must come together to compete tasks while discovering who the imposters are, all while trying to stay alive. In the game, you can pick what color your character is, as well as what fun hat you want to wear. I can definitely see a lot of people dressing up as their Among Us character.

Tiger King

Again, another pop culture trending topic that will be turned into a costume by a lot of people this Halloween. I feel like Carol Baskin will be the most replicated from the show. Especially with her recent resurgence of fame due to Dancing With The Stars. Have fun with this one all you cool cats and kittens!

RBG

I think the perfect homage to the incredible, late Ruth Bader Ginsburg is to dress up as her. I bet she would love nothing more than a bunch of young women paying respect to their favorite feminist trailblazer and fighting for what is right. Especially with the election just weeks after Halloween.

Alexis Rose from Schitt’s Creek

Schitt’s Creek has taken the world by storm this year, and rightfully so. The show is absolutely hilarious. If you haven’t seen it, you should definitely jump on the bandwagon. I think it would be really fun to dress up as Alexis, one of my favorite characters from the show. I believe a lot of people will have this idea too.

Whether you choose to stay in or get together with a few friends this Halloween, please be safe. Be mindful that we are still in a pandemic. Not going out to a large party for one year will not kill you. I promise there will more chances for you to go crazy next year. Just remember if you do decide to go out and celebrate, wear a mask and be responsible. You can have fun while still following the rules.
