The Met Gala is officially back and we need to talk about it. The Met Gala is my Olympics,
usually I’m not really one to judge red carpet looks but this specific event always makes my
inner Miranda Priestly come out and I’m not ashamed. This was the first Met Gala since the
pandemic and let me just say it was very underwhelming. The theme to this year’s Met Gala was
American independence. There were some good fashion moments but the bad fashion choices
definitely outweighed the good.

We first need to talk about the Kardashian/Jenners. I personally really look forward to the
Kardashian/Jenners’ looks every year because you know whether the look is good or bad it’s
gonna be interesting. Kris Jenner was dressed in true Kris Jenner fashion which is an all black
suit from head to toe. Which don’t get me wrong I usually love the all black but this is the met
gala Kris lets show out a little bit. Kim showed up in an all black silhouette with her entire body
and face covered. I have to say the memes on this look were 10/10. Basically Kim is showing the
world that even completely covered up she is so known and so famous that you would still be
able to recognize her and she would still make the headlines. While I wasn’t a fan of the outfit
itself, the concept was genius. Kendall’s looks in the past to me are usually ok but nothing really
stands out but I have to admit that this year she was the best dressed family member hands down.

Let’s talk about men who attended the met gala and how they gave us absolutely nothing this
year. You do have some men who took a risk with their fashion and it payed off I feel like the
perfect example would be Little Nas X but on the contrary you had some male celebs take a risk
and it not pay off for example Dan Levy (even though I love him so much and it physically pains
me to say this). Then you have the men who just show up in a black suit and tie or in Timothee’s
case a white suit with a black tie. I think my favorite moment on the red carpet would be when
ASAP Rocky ripped off the blanket he was wearing like he was about to give us an undeniable
fashion moment, just for it to be a plain black suit underneath that added nothing to the carpet
that we hadn’t already seen before.

I personally have a love/hate relationship with influencers and their attendance to the Met. For
example, I LOVE Emma Chamberlin and think she deserves everything that comes to her. I feel
like Emma is a more down to earth and approachable person than most influencers, I also feel
like she has a big influential role in the fashion world whether you want to admit it or not.
Addison Rae and Dixie D’Amelio on the other hand not so much.

Yara Shahidi, Kendall Jenner, Anok Yai and Lil Nas X all stole the show and were best dressed
of the night in my opinion. Hopefully next year’s Met will deliver a better theme and fashion
choices, because for this to be the first Met Gala since the start of the pandemic, it didn’t give
what it was supposed to give.
