I just watched the trailer for season 6 of Riverdale and it seems like this show gets even weirder
and it needs to be discussed. Betty and Archie are doing some midsummer’s baby making scene,
Cheryl is now a witch and they are incorporating Sabrina Spellmen into the show, Cole Sprouse
looks like he’s pushing 40 years old and there’s still a ton of unnecessary singing that adds
absolutely nothing to the plot.

Back when I was in high school I actually really enjoyed Riverdale. Pretty Little Liars had just
gone off the air and I needed a new mystery show to obsess over so it came at the perfect time.
The first season of Riverdale was chefs kiss. I loved the whole Jason storyline and how
everyone in this small town knew each other and how even all the parents went to high school
together which meant that everyone knew each other’s business throughout the town. We had a
Betty, Archie, and Veronica love triangle going on and who doesn’t love a good love
triangle. Hiram was still in prison and not on our screens terrorizing the town for absolutely no
reason and life was good. Then the second season premiered and while that season got a lot of
hate and started being known as “the downfall of Riverdale”, I personally enjoyed it. While the
black hoodie storyline was a total rip-off from the red coat/A plot on PLL it still fascinated me. I
even sat through the Carrie musical episode (believe it or not it actually wasn’t that bad). Then
we hit season 3 and in my opinion that was the official start to the downfall of the show. I tried to
keep going because I mean I had already invested 2 years of my life into this show so why not
continue. Then I watched the episode where Josie, Cheryl, and Veronica performed a song for
Archie outside the fence of the prison he was in and I remember thinking yeah I’m out. There’s
only so much cringe a person could take.

The question I always ask myself is what happened to the original plot of this show? We went
from a murder in a small town to a dungeons and dragon type storyline and a weird cult with
Chad Michael Murray as the leader. Then came the time jump and I remember thinking maybe
this show can get back on track. Maybe by making these kids graduate from high school, they
can now finally enter the adult world. They can finally be adults with adult problems instead of
teenagers with adult problems. Let’s just say that didn’t happen and the show is even weirder
than it was before which I don’t even know how that’s possible.
