Tsaocaa is one of the best places for boba tea on campus. It’s the perfect place to sit down with a friend and chat; the aesthetics of the store are minimalistic and have an Asian charm. I’ve been going to Tsaocaa religiously ever since it first opened up, and these are some of my favorite drinks on the menu:

Pu’er Black Milk Tea

I’ve always had Pu’er tea in Chinese restaurants growing up, but I’d never seen it on a boba menu before. When I saw this last week, I knew I had to try it and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Pu’er tea has a very distinct taste so it’s hard to describe, but it has a very strong flavor. I would highly recommend trying this drink, especially if you’re a fan of the classic milk teas like green tea, black tea, and oolong drinks. I personally order a small size every time because I can never finish a large given how strong the flavor of Pu’er is, but it’s become a new favorite of mine ever since I discovered it!

Watermelon Green Tea w/ Crystal Pearl and Milk Foam

I got this drink over the weekend without milk foam, and I fell in love with it. The watermelon was so fresh and flavorful, it felt like I was drinking a refreshing glass of watermelon juice. The taste of green tea was really subtle, but I honestly didn’t really mind it since I loved the watermelon element so much. This drink isn’t extremely sweet, and the watermelon gives it plenty of natural sweetness. If you’re a fan of Tsaocaa’s fruit teas, this is a must-try!

Kiwi Green Tea Slushie

I’ve tried this drink both as a slushie and as a fruit tea (basically with no ice in it), and both versions are great. The kiwi flavor is really strong, which I loved, and there are kiwi seeds inside that give it a fun texture. The kiwis are extremely fresh, and as a huge fan of more sour flavors, this was a pleasant change from the usual sweet boba teas. This is by far one of my favorite drinks to order.

Peach Oolong Tea

This is one of my go-to drinks for whenever I don’t know what to order. I love natural tea flavors, and I would say oolong tea is my favorite tea. The hints of peach are pretty subtle, but it does make a pretty big difference in the flavor. I love ordering this drink with boba pearls and occasionally some jelly.

Tsaocaa’s menu is always growing, and I absolutely love trying out some of the newest flavors they come up with. I’ve never been disappointed with my drink at Tsaocaa, and I can’t wait to see what other great drinks I find during my time at Purdue. If you’re a fan of boba tea, I would highly recommend any and all of the drinks mentioned above. And, if you’re new to the whole boba scene, don’t be afraid to try something new! Start out with some fruit teas if you’re not sure whether or not you like tea flavors! Tsaocaa is by far the best place to go for fruit teas, they have the best flavors you’ll find anywhere near campus! Happy boba drinking (;
