Her Campus: What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Kelli Flynn: Genuine, caring and driven.
HC: How does it feel to be Purdue’s Campus Cutie while you’re spending the year studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology?
KF: Exciting! I feel like it’s a way to connect with the things happening at Purdue.
HC: What do you love most about studying at FIT in New York City?
KF: Being in the city. I absolutely love New York because of the energy and the spontaneity of it. It can be overwhelming at times, but it’s a great learning experience.
HC: Do you have an internship? If so, where are you interning?
KF: Yes, I am interning with Alice + Olivia in the International Sales department—it’s so much fun!
HC: What do you miss most about being at Purdue University?
KF: My friends and the college campus feel. Going to school in the city definitely has a lot of benefits, especially for a fashion major, but it’s definitely a different dynamic than attending school in a small town like West Lafayette. And I miss all of my best friends a lot.
HC: What do you like to do in your free time in the Big Apple?
KF: Explore the city! On the weekends, my friends and I will explore new places to go shopping, go to museums, go clubbing, and my personal favorite: brunch on Sundays.
HC: If you had to recommend one NYC activity or place to go for fellow Boilermaker collegiettes™, what would it be?
KF: Ahhh, there are so many fun things to do in New York, it’s hard to pick just one! I would recommend seeing the play, “Sleep No More.” I saw it one of the first weekends I was here and it was such a unique, amazing experience. Also, if the weather is nice, I would recommend spending an afternoon in Central Park—it’s one of my favorite places to be.
