Allow Yourself to Take Study Breaks

You can only stay focused on studying for so long and if you sit there mindlessly staring at your screen, you will only waste time. Use your day wisely and study when you are normally most awake and productive. During the times you get tired, take some time to relax and do things other than study. I recommend napping or grabbing a bite to eat with some friends.

Reward Yourself

If you have been studying for hours on end, reward yourself! Maybe take a practice exam and if you ace it go grab Starbucks. Another idea is when you finish a subject for that day, watch a twenty-minute episode of your favorite show.

Don’t Forget to Take Care of Yourself

It is so easy to get caught up in studying and forget to eat, sleep, or maybe even shower, but it is so important that we remember to take care of ourselves. We can do that by taking productive studying breaks of taking a quick nap or heading to the gym for a run. Taking care of yourself also means your mental health! It is so important that we take time out of our days to check in with ourselves and make sure we are hanging in there

Start Studying Ahead

I am seriously the biggest procrastinator ever, but during finals it is an absolute must that you start studying ahead. You will seriously thank yourself later if you take a little bit of time each day in the weeks leading up to your finals to study. You can even start by just making a review guide or flash cards and using them each day.

Do The Things That Make You Happy

If reading a chapter in a book before bed makes you happy, do it. If going to the gym and running or lifting once a day makes you happy do it! Stay in your routine. It will help you sleep better at night and stay focused during the day. It will also keep your spirits high. Taking that little time away from studying is not going to break your grade, if anything it will help because you will be happier and able to study more easily.

Stay Organized

Use that planner even if you have not used it all year. Write down the times and locations of your finals and even set reminders on your phones if you need to. I recommend putting your student ID in your phone or a place you will definitely have with you so you do not forget it when you go to take your exam. I even like to make a study plan and map out the time I am going to spend studying for each subject. It really helps me stay relaxed and keep my cool.
