The 5 Stages of a College Girl’s Night Out

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purdue chapter.

Stage One: Planning Phase

You make plans to go out with friends. These plans are not very detailed. All you know is that you and your squad is going out together and are ready to have some fun!

Stage Two: Get Excited

The excitement is building and so are your expectations. You have somewhat of an idea of what you want to wear and how you want to look. Your girls are getting together and nothing is going to stop you.

Stage Three: Get Dressed and Set the Mood

Now a lot happens in this stage. Basically, your mood is dependent on what you decide to wear. Whether that be a more casual look or an edgy chic look right out of vogue, the dress you where is going to contribute to the type of night it’ll be. This stage can also be the most stressful because sometimes creating the same outfit you envisioned, is more difficult than you thought. After you have the right hair, makeup, and of course the outfit, you can proceed onto the next stage.

Stage Four: The Pregame

This pregame stage is by far the most unpredictable stage of them all. While all of the other stages are pretty consistent, stage four is different. You can set a pregame location, invite certain people, and even provide all of them beverages but somehow it never ends up the way you expected. Maybe the boy you are crushing on shows up, the drama from your circle of friends is brought up, or even the location of the pregame is changed for the tenth time. The pregame is a whirl wind drinks and trying to keep up with everything happening. Now, the well-planned pregame has become nothing that you expected. Your plans for the night have changed, different friends show up, and you are trying to chug your drink before your Uber arrives. When your ride arrives, you gobble down the last of your beverages and you and your squad venture out to the adventures of the night.

Stage Five:  Shit Hits the Fan

From the moment you decided you wanted to go out to where you are now, your expectations have been thrown out the window. All you can remember is setting your sights on going out with your girlfriends and you have achieved that. No matter where you end up, you’ve prepped and preened and are ready to take on everything the night throws at you.
