Recommending You a Barbie Movie Based On Your Zodiac Sign

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

Growing up in the 2000s, Barbie movies were my everything— and I know most people my age can relate.

When you have a night off, I recommend rewatching some of the old movies for some nostalgia and good laughs. Recently, I rewatched some fan-favorite Barbie movies, so in this article I’ll be recommending you an old Barbie movie to watch based on your zodiac sign.

Sagittarius

As a Sagittarius, you love adventure, which is why “Barbie Fairytopia” is the perfect Barbie movie for you. Elina, the Barbie in this movie, goes on an adventure to find the guardian who can save Fairytopia from dying.

Sagittarians are known for their optimism and compassion toward others, which is exactly how I would describe Elina throughout the movie.

Capricorn

“Barbie in the Nutcracker” is the perfect Barbie movie for Capricorns. This retelling of “The Nutcracker” follows Barbie as Clara and the Nutcracker himself on their mission to find the Sugar Plum Princess.

Capricorns are very ambitious and disciplined, which is exactly how I would describe Clara and the Nutcracker. If a Capricorn wants to do something, they’ll do it— just like Clara trying to find the Princess.

Aquarius

For obvious reasons, “Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia” would be a great fit for Aquarians. Price Nalu gets kidnapped, so Elina and her mermaid friend Nori go on a mission to find him, making countless sacrifices along the way.

Not only does Aquarius starts with “aqua” and this whole movie takes place underwater, but Aquarians are known for being analytical and fighting for what they believe in, just like Elina in this movie!

virgo

Virgos are very in touch with nature and the environment around them, which is why I would recommend “Barbie And The Diamond Castle.”

This movie follows two best friends, Liana and Alexa, who live a cottage-core life in the middle of a beautiful forest. The girls are in touch with nature and the movie is super scenic. Virgos are also caring and very friend-oriented, just like the best friends in this movie.

scorpio

Scorpios can be very independent at times and are known to do what they want when they want it, just like Annika in “Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus.” In the movie, Annika is a rulebreaker and goes outside the palace even though she isn’t supposed to, which leads to her parents being frozen by the villain.

Scorpios are determined, especially when it comes to their family; throughout this movie, Annika relentlessly seeks the cure to unfreeze her parents.

pisces

This sign is emotionally driven and is known for being a kind soul. If you’re a Pisces, I would recommend watching “Barbie of Swan Lake.” The dancing, music and scenery in this movie are spectacular and really speak to the heart.

Odette, the Barbie in this movie, has a huge heart in how she speaks and cares for the animals surrounding the lake. The romance in this movie is also adorable; overall, the movie is very heartwarming— perfect for a Pisces.

gemini

There is no doubt in my mind when I say “Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper” would be loved by Geminis. I mean, the whole movie is about two girls, a Princess and a Pauper, who look identical— very Gemini-like!

Besides that, Geminis are known to be clever and funny, which perfectly fits this movie. Out of all of the Barbie movies, I would say this is one of the most comedic— especially with Preminger, a total meme of a character. In my opinion, this movie also has one of the best romances in the Barbie cinematic universe.

leo

If you’re a Leo, you will love “Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses.” First, I have to say, this movie has one of the best soundtracks in Barbie history.

Being a Leo myself, I know how energetic and wild Leos can be, trying to make every situation fun— which is basically what this movie is about! After Rowena takes over the Castle, she tries to make Genevieve and her 11 sisters conform to her strict rules, one being no more dancing.

But obviously, Genevieve and her sisters don’t listen and find a secret realm under their room where they dance every night (very Leo of them). There’s also a super cute romance in this movie, and I know how romantics Leos can be.

aries

If you’re an Aries, you are courageous and competitive— exactly like Corinne, the Barbie in “Barbie and The Three Musketeers.”

This retelling of “The Three Musketeers” follows Corinne and her three friends as they try to become Musketeers. At first, they are subjected to the stereotypical “lady” jobs such as cleaning, and they are made fun of for trying to be knights— but they don’t take no for an answer.

Corinne and her friends train in secret and by the end of the movie, they are complete badasses. This movie has just the right amount of action and competitiveness that represents an Aries.

cancer

“Barbie as the Island Princess” is a great movie for you if you’re a Cancer. The Cancer sign tends to be incredibly loyal, and loyal is the perfect word to describe Rosella. In this movie, Rosella’s best friends are animals to whom she can speak and she would do anything for them, just like Cancers would do anything for their friends.

libra

Libras will love the movie “Barbie Fairytopia: Magic of the Rainbow.” As people who are clever and charming, Libras can fit into any group and make the best of any situation.

This movie is about Elina who is preparing to become a Guardian along with five other fairies. Elina is really great at bonding with people and is naturally gifted with her magic. I believe most Libras can relate to Elina.

taurus

Tauruses have a creative side to them, but they also want to be successful and love the extravagant— which is why I would recommend “Barbie as Rapunzel.” Rapunzel is creative and in this movie she has a magic paintbrush that she uses to draw what she wants, and then whatever she draws appears.

And when she paints, she paints. Rapunzel made herself the most extravagant dresses!

If you want, you could watch all of these movies as they’re all amazing and nostalgic. And after you finish watching the movies, I highly recommend going to YouTube and finding meme videos of the movies— they’re really funny!
