HC: Tell us about yourself. What activities are you involved in at Penn State? Interests, hobbies, favorite color?
DG: I’ve been involved in the Masters of Accounting Program, THON OPPerations committee and had a brief run with the bocce club. I love spending time with my family and friends and just hanging and playing games. I am an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and love watching all sports, especially soccer. I also like golfing and reading in the summer, listening to music and am currently trying to teach myself how to play the saxophone. Blue is the best color.
HC: Since you are in the MAC Program, you will be able to stay at PSU for one more year. What are you looking forward to the most for your final year here in State College?
DG: Definitely just enjoying the extra time to be at Penn State. With so many friends graduating now, I’m glad I’ll have the fifth year to just take advantage of everything I have at Penn State. I’m looking forward to having another year of living the college lifestyle that you can’t live in the real world, becoming a TA, helping teach accounting, finishing the degrees I’ve worked hard for and Wings Over.
HC: You were recently away from Penn State for a semester. What were you doing while you were away?
DG: I was interning with a large public accounting firm in Baltimore, and I was working on audits of some large publicly traded companies. I had the chance to see a variety of different industries and learned a lot about auditing.
HC: Explain to us what happened to your car while you were gone.
DG: The last week of my internship I went outside to get in my car (I parked in a lot against the house I was living in), and it wasn’t there. I figured it was towed, so I called the towing company, but they didn’t have it, so I had to call my mom at 8 a.m. to tell her it was stolen. You never call with good news at 8 a.m. on a Tuesday. I then had to call the Baltimore police and file a report for a stolen vehicle. It’s been over a month and it hasn’t been found, so insurance paid for the value of the car. It was the only car I’ve ever driven, so it’s sad knowing I’ll never be in it again.
HC: What is your favorite place to eat at PSU, and what is your go-to order on the menu?
DG: Wings Over. My order is sweet onion BBQ with the waffle fries (the $.50 is worth it) and blue cheese. I eat with a fork and knife.
HC: What is your spirit animal and why?
DG: I always thought it was the wolf because they are reliant on the pack, but Buzzfeed told me it’s the sloth so…
HC: What is your idea of a perfect date?
DG: Going to a Pirates game on a nice Saturday night in the summer, grabbing a Primanti’s Sandwich and maybe a beer or two.
HC: Khloe, Kourtney or Kim Kardashian? Why?
DG: Khloe. She seems like she has fun and has good intentions.
HC: Who is your biggest role model? Explain.
DG: My parents. It’s cliché, but it’s true. They raised me well and taught me everything I know. They’ve shown me how to live and how to love. I’d never be able to get through life or college without them. I learn more from them the older I get, and I love them.
HC: Last question: If you had one piece of advice to give to the underclassmen students at Penn State, what would it be?
DG: Call your parents as much as possible.
