You know who you are – you studied abroad last year and were hooked with the thrill of travel ever since. Or you come from a traveling family and have always had a passion for exploring new lands.
Either way, those of us who love hopping on a plane, train or boat or jumping in the car and hitting the open road know that these struggles are very real.
1. You are constantly torn about where you are going to go next.
“Havana or Stockholm? Maybe Sydney?”
2. It is so easy to plan your Fall Break trip to London, but it is very difficult planning out your finances to pay for it.
“Yes, mom and dad, the money is for an educational purpose.”
3. You are always stashing a couple of dollars away to save for your next trip.
4. You need a job specifically to support your travel needs.
5. You are always digging into your stash to buy a new chic outfit to rock on the streets of Paris.
6. The only thing that you ever ask for on your birthday is a trip to some exotic location, and you almost never get obliged, so you settle for a new passport case.
7. Your travel bucket list is so long that you figure that you can accomplish it by going somewhere new every three months.
“I totally have the time and resources for this.”
8. You look back at pictures from you Euro-trip instead of paying attention in class.
*sigh*
9. You are constantly weighing the consequences of taking a week off just to go somewhere exotic.
“I’m broke and probably need to go to class. But it would be super fun, and I’m only going to be this young and able to ignore responsibilities for so long.”
10. You sometimes think about becoming an adventure leader after graduation instead of the posh job that you actually went to college for.
“Sorry, Mom and Dad.”
11. You die a little on the inside if someone invites you on a road trip, but you can’t go because of adult responsibilities.
12. You spend more money on travel books than you do on textbooks.
13. You have to be awake at strange hours to Skype with your friends from a different time zone, but it’s totally worth the sleep deprivation.
14. Your brain never knows what time zone you are in.
15. Even though you have a hard time coping with your struggles, you know that the next trip will be amazing!
