Tori: Detour Bars

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Princeton chapter.

Overall with the Detour Bars, I was underwhelmed. They don’t taste horrible, but I do have a few issues with the bars.

First of all, you can taste the fake sweetness. The chocolate coating is delicious, but the layers in between taste more artificial than the turf of the Astrodome. I know that artificial sweeteners and flavorings are often a tradeoff that you make for the lower calories in health bars. However, I felt that the unnatural taste was particularly strong with this product. On top of that, the texture of the bar was chalky. I tried it both refrigerated and at room temperature, and there was no difference.

These critiques could possibly only be specific to the Neapolitan flavor. However, after perusing the Detour website, no matter which flavor you choose you’re still consuming a lot of artificial ingredients. I believe that there are better products out there with just as much protein that balance health and taste. In all, the Detour bars aren’t anything special.

Disclaimer: Detour produces bars that are chock-full of protein. Materials refered in the article were sent to Tori as a gift, all opinions are her own.
