Meet Her Campus Princeton Summer Slimdown Blogger: Yoonha!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Princeton chapter.

Are you one of those girls whose New Year’s Resolutions always include goals such as working out more and eating healthily, but before you know it, you find yourself eating junk food at 2AM? I am.

My name is Yoonha, and I am a rising senior in the psychology department. . I studied abroad last spring semester in Melbourne, Australia and had the best experience of my life! That being said, it was especially difficult to eat healthy because well-being food was very pricey; my friends and I often ended up eating McDonald’s or Chinese food late at night. My newfound addiction to Tim Tam did not help. At the same time, I know this is not really an excuse for me because I’m known for having the weirdest sleep schedule and a huge sweet tooth. On top of all of that, I never exercise. Fortunately, or unfortunately, my appetite for food other than dessert is pretty small, and my natural physique is also quite small, so people usually don’t consider me overweight. But I came to realize that this perception also makes me complacent and lazy. No, I do not have a distorted view of my own body, and I do not wish to be a stick figure. I simply believe that fitness is related to all kinds of aspects and know that when I start feeling healthier, I’ll be happier.

When people do anything that involves physical activities with me (like sprinting to catch the last train or going up the stairs), they realize how horribly out of shape I am. This is not surprising since I hit the gym about five times a year. One physical activity I am passionate about is dancing. I’m in a dance company on campus and also love going out to dance for fun. For me, working out needs to be fun, and I hope to try random fitness classes that I can enjoy. I’m tired of having to suck in my belly in tight dresses and feeling unhealthy. Because of all these reasons, I’m so happy to join this program and want to represent the girls who want to be stronger and have the perfect beach body! Now that you guys are reading this, I really hope I can succeed this time and stay motivated. Wish me luck!
