Meet Jenn Perkins!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Portland chapter.

Name: Jenn Perkins

Grade: Senior

Major: Nursing

3 words to describe yourself: Team-orientated, Compassionate, and Motivated

Bucket List for Senior Year: I have a best friend from elementary school who is getting married this year. Even though we only talk once or twice a year, we’re still really close and I would love to see her through the wedding.

Advice for undergrads:  My advice would be to follow your passions, but don’t be afraid if your passions change. New doors will always open up.

Competitions: During my freshman and sophomore year, I was part of Mock Trial and we attended and won the Anteater Tournament. For freshman year I won Team MVP and Rookie of the Year and for Sophomore year I was the Top Ranked Witness for Regionals. Both years my team got to go to Nationals, which takes place in Memphis.

Plans after college: Hopefully I’ll get a job that allows me to work with kids who are somewhere between 3 months old to 10 years old. I like children of all ages, but that’s probably my favorite age range. Farther down the line, I would like to get involved in legal work and become a Legal Nurse Consultant.

Favorite memory at UP: One of my favorite memories was joining Mock Trial. I loved how even though I was a nursing major, the people still took me in. I felt so at home there.

Siblings: I have one sibling. She’s a Freshman who lives in Kenna. It’s fun having a sibling here; we hang out from time to time.

Experience as RA for Kenna: It’s one of the best experiences I’ve had so far.  This position offers a unique perspective on life and provides multiple ways to connect with people. It’s interesting watching different dynamics unfold between different people. For example some of the RAs are more outgoing and some, like me, are more quiet and shy. But you’ll always get to spend time with other people and hear their stories.

What are you going to miss about UP: I’m definitely going to miss the people; I have made so many unbelievable connections in the four years that I was here.
