How to Get Away with Being a Bad Gift Giver

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Portland chapter.

So you’re bad at giving gifts? Maybe you’ve made one too many frames for your parents. Whatever your problem is with gift giving here’s a guide on how to somewhat impress your family while staying true to your less than impressive gift giving roots.

Step one: set the bar so low

Step two: spend all your money on other stuff

Step three: brainstorm new (possibly free) gift ideas

Step four: create a Pinterest account in a panic to find ideas

Step five: try and fail to make a Pinterest gift

Step six: give up on a DIY gift

Step seven: decide on the cheapest versions of your family/friends’ wishlists

Step eight: REALIZE THAT YOU FORGOT SOMEONE

Step nine: Try to give away your old things as gifts

Step ten: Pull the “I’m just a kid” card to escape another disappointing holiday
