Remember hits like “Raise Your Glass” and “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)”? If you’re like me, you may be wondering where Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Pink, born Alecia Moore, has been in recent years. Since 2013, she hasn’t released any new solo music or really performed as Pink, so I took to the Internet to do some research. As it turns out, last year, Moore teamed up with Dallas Green, the genius behind City and Colour, to form the folk duo You+Me. The two released an album together in October called Rose Ave. and I’m honestly surprised it hasn’t received more mainstream attention. Every single song on the album is filled with so much heart and soul. The music is powerful. The lyrics are deep and personal. Moore and Green, who both play instruments for the band, have extremely powerful voices that blend together in perfect harmony. The album ranges from heartbreaking to uplifting, but there is never a disengaging song. My top two recommendations for any listeners new to You+Me’s music would be “Gently” and “You and Me!” No word yet on if this amazing band will be touring in the near future, but I would bet money that these two incredibly talented musicians release more music together in the future.
