Dave and Andy’s Scoop of Advice: Meet the Boys

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Hey friends,

We’re Dave and Andy, and we are proud to say that we are joining ‘Her Campus’ to act as your personal male opinion on relationships.  Now this may sound a little weird and possibly a wee bit alarming, but trust us it can never hurt to hear both sides of the story.  Now I know everyone has at least heard of ‘Dear Abby’ and mostly everyone knows the general gist of an advice column, but if you have no idea at all what one is then pay close attention, because we are about to rock your world.  Remember all those times when you were absolutely bewildered about why “he” did that or what in the world “he” could have been thinking, but you never able to figure it out?  Some may tell you “its just a guy thing, and you’ll never get it.”  That couldn’t be any more wrong, because we are here to help you understand all these “guy things” and offer up a little advice, of which we hope can help you figure “him” out.  Now by no means are we ominous or perfect in all of our opinions, still we offer advice with genuine and sincere intentions.  Seeing as the nature of such an advice column may tend to touch on some more personal issues, allow us to tell you all a little more about ourselves first (so you don’t think we are creepily trying to hear everyone’s problems).

I’ll go first, the name is Dave and I’m a lean mean advice-giving machine.  Seriously though, despite my humorous demeanor, I’m a pretty down-to-earth person and I like to think of myself as being generously insightful.  I’m a junior Political Science and Philosophy major at Pitt and would one day love to be a high school teacher.  I also enjoy a nice pair of slacks and like to wear bow ties with sweater vests.  I’ve had various relationships over the years and have gained much life experience from all of them, of which I hope can be relatable to some issues and/or questions you might have.  I look forward to hearing from all of you and doing my best to share my advice from a male’s point-of-view. Now with no further a due, I will turn the mic over to my dear friend Andy.

The name is Andy, and honestly I don’t really know where to start, so I guess I’ll just start with the basics.  I’m a sophomore accounting and finance major at Pitt.  I’d say I am a pretty out-going and funny individual; I love to make people laugh and be a voice of reason in appropriate situations.  My favorite color is blue and my favorite book is the dictionary because without it, there would be no other books anyway.  On the serious side of things, I find myself to be understanding and intuitive towards others and their feelings/emotions.  I really look forward to giving my two cents on a variety of inquiries and hope to help quite a bit of you out down the road.  We are both very excited to get started hearing all about what you all have to say and what you are curious about, in relation to how a guy’s mind works.

We are open-minded and comfortable to discuss mostly any topic that you can fathom (within reason, might we add).  We hope to not only lend some helpful advice, but also to create a friendly and light-hearted environment for anyone to take part in.  We will respond to a few inquires each week and do our best to shed light on the male perspective.  We hope for only the best and without any further introduction, lets get things rolling!

Your hometown minds of reason,

Dave and Andy

I’m a junior Political Science and Philosophy major at Pitt and would one day love to be a high school teacher. I love to write and I think of myself as somewhat of an intellectual, with some good advice here and there. I also enjoy a nice pair of slacks and like to wear bow ties with sweater vests. I'm a big family person; my parents, brother, and my dog Cliff Lee mean the world to me. I like the beach a lot, except I'm not a big fan of the sand or getting wet or sunburn. My best friend is Andy, he is kinda cool I guess. I write an advice column for Her Campus and possibly a few interest pieces here and there. I am looking forward to getting to hearing from all the readers/inquirers.
I'm a current Junior at the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Spanish language! I was born and raised in Philadelphia and I am a huge city kid! I'm very open about most things in my life; Sex, drinking, partying, friendships, etc. (you name it). I'm a firm believer of loving and knowing yourself before allowing others to make those decisions for you. If you don't love yourself or know who you are, then others never will!
