6 Tips For Making The Best Of Tailgating Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Tailgating season is back! As we cheer on our favorite teams from outside the stadium, take these tips into consideration to make your tailgating experience the best that it can be!

1) Trekking through mud and gravel lots is no fun without proper footwear, so wear comfy shoes. The pair of converse that you wear to frat parties will do just fine!

2) Get a good night’s sleep the night before the game. Tailgating comes with an early wake up call, so it is essential to get lots of sleep prior to the game.

3) Pee beforehand! No one wants to use the port-a-potties! No one!

4) Before the game, find a friend with a car or truck. You’ll also need: a foldable table for food and drinks, lawn chairs to sit in, a cooler, trash bags for easy clean up, fun games like cornhole, and most importantly, a grill! Honestly though, you’ll probably have to rely on your parents or some nice frat boys for this one because what average college student has a grill to bring to a football game? And if you want to have your tailgate be the one that everyone wishes they were at, make pancakes on the grill! Savory breakfast foods are a game changer for early morning beer shot-gunning, and it will be a nice change from the usual hot dogs that frats cook up. But seriously, please, someone grill pancakes at the next tailgate.

5) The perfect game day attire and accessories! This includes but is not limited to: face stickers, war paint, beaded necklaces, baseball caps, jerseys/school shirts, and socks.

6) Lastly, don’t forget to charge your phone! You will need it to call your friends when you’re walking around through hordes of drunks who are all wearing the same colors.

Tailgating is a great way to celebrate your school and your favorite team, so be prepared and celebrate the victory!
