What it’s like to be a Disneyland annual passholder

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pepperdine chapter.

If you go to school in Southern California or simply just own an Instagram, chances are you know people who seem to always be at Disneyland. You wonder, it’s so expensive how can they afford that? The secret? We have Disneyland Annual Passes that get us into the parks year-round and so much more. If you’ve ever wondered what this lifestyle is like, read on to find out.

Passholders know about lots of lesser known opportunities of Disneyland, such as the secret Club 33, where you can dine like Walt himself, and the life-saving single rider lines.

We never feel rushed to get on all of the rides, and often ride our favorites two-three times because we can. We also go to more shows than the average Disney guest; we may or may not know all of the words to the Aladdin musical (RIP) and Mickey’s Soundsational Parade.

A word to the “tourists,” us pass holders have zero tolerance for slow people, whether they are pushing strollers or have their noses buried in a map, ugh newbies! Also, if someone tells one of us that they’ve never been to Disneyland, we feel sad for them and insist we have to be the one who shows them around for their first time. We are your free tour guides!

When we trade pins, our knowledge rivals even that of the cast members’… Yeah, we know Mulan’s last name, do you?

We get discounts on our food and park merchandise, so naturally, we buy EVERYTHING!

Lastly, we get just as excited to see our favorite characters as the children, if not more. (we don’t want to grow up!)

If you’ve ever wished you could escape to Neverland, or simply live in California, I urge you to treat yourself to a Disney annual pass. Welcome to the Disney life!
